Weird Multi

Here's a weird little multi:
http://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?PriceEnd=&order=PriceDesc&CatalogName=&range=391&list=10&Feature=&Cat=2&SearchText=&Mode=Cat&Brand=&PriceStart=&SKU=SA1264
that I happened across while looking for serrated knife sharpeners.

Besides its tapered diamond file, it has Phillips, slothead, bottleopener, and scissors.

Probably not the greatest quality implements, but might be worth the 4 bucks for the retractable diamond file.

That looks kinda neat. At four bucks it's probably worth taking a chance.

Hmmm, where would a person use a tapered round diamond file?

I've also used a tapered diamond file for smoothing out and enlarging the holes of beads, to help fit paracord thru and prevent snagging, for lanyards:  wooden beads, pewter skull beads, etc...

Should work for sharpening "normal" edges about as well as a regular round diamond file - i.e. not as fast as a flat diamond file, but will get the job done eventually.

In addition, it should work on both highly recurved blades and serrations.  A flat diamond file won't work for either of those, and a regular round diamond file won't work on most serrations.

That looks like a real good idea but I'll bet if I can find it in this country it would cost three times as much at least

Thanks.

(I confess, I've never tried to sharpen a serrated knife blade) :(

They use to carry that at Wallyworld at one point, gone the way of the dino now. I really like my Blackie Collins Sharpen-it for portable sharpening.

I had one of those and gave it away. To me, the diamond hone was a little too coarse and the diamond coating was not applied very evenly. Never used the little implements as they are about the same size as on my SAK's. Size wise, it's about the size of medium multi-tool. It's also very light weight, which is not a big deal considering what it will be used for. I don't know, I thought it was a waste of money.

Mike
