You probably remember that I like highly integrated EDC whith as many tools as possible. Although I downgraded from an insane Skinth CatchAll whith everything to a humble Shield 2XL with the bare necessities, the later still has almost all the tools I might need on the road and outdoors, except one, a hammer.
I felt uneasy but having a hammer - axe - spade from the former CCCP that proved its usefulness clearing vegetation, breaking ice and making an impromptu bridge over the years I was covered. But as a hammer it is overkill.
Among my hobbies is geology. I was an armchair geologist with a small collection of specimens, but now that I have a Stereomicroscope I feel the need to collect my own specimens for observation. On many occasions I encountered interesting formations which I left behind because I wasn't prepared to remove them from the mother rock. Not any more!
Here it is, my new Estwing E3 - 22P geological hammer with pick that doubles up as a regular hammer (for nails etc). It is heavy one piece, with vibration absorbing handle and a rock pick on the other side. With a couple of flat rock picks (like chisels) it is quite versatile.
No, I'm not going to EDC it but I will EDCC it (every day car carry). When I am in the outdoors the car is nearby, so it will be handy no doubt.
This sells for 25-30$ but poor Greeks have to pay 65€ for it. It better worth it.
