With the New Year all biting us in the arse I thought this would be a good time to contemplate certain things. Right now, for example, I'm contemplating how exactly to post this month's Donation Draw for maximum impact, and I think the best way is to draw it out a little. Is that good judgement? Maybe, maybe not- I'll let you decide!
Ok, so it's not a Gerber, that's our first clue....
So what could it be? I mean, it's obviously a Leatherman, but that doesn't really look like a standard Leatherman box, does it? Maybe?
Maybe not. That's a pretty fancy box now, isn't it? I'll bet there's more...
And it looks like I'd be right! But what is in there?
In the interest of dragging this out a bit further, let's look at the rules of the contest- it's pretty much the same (actually EXACTLY the same!) as every other month- donate a minimum of $10 to the Multitool.org Forum Operational Fund and if we hit our goal of $275 then you get a chance to win this cool prize- whatever it is.
This month is actually a really safe month to donate too, since my old SOSAK buddy Joe is
celebrating his 500th post with a contest that includes making donations, and by the time I got around to posting this we were already at 70%, so it's a pretty safe bet we'll make it! Plus, if you post in his thread before the 13th of January, you'll also be eligible to win this:
Heck, since we are running these giveaways independantly, you could potentiually win BOTH prizes- Joe's All Black Instant EDC Package and... wait, what was it we were giving away? Oh yeah...
According to
this weird crystal worshiping hippy site, purple is the color of good judgement and spiritual fulfillment, and I may be biased, but I firmly believe that supporting this site shows good judgement and I'm sure your spirit would be fulfilled with one of these lying around!
So, providing your mind has not been blown, here are the details- this is a Texas Toolcrafters (I think) El Morado Purple Skeletool, and it's up for grabs to anyone willing to part with at least $10.
Of course, every $10 you donate earns you another chance to win this one, so $20 gets you two entries, $50 gets you five entries and $300 or more gets me to rig the contest in your favor....
Usually when we offer something this cool people are scared to carry them, but let me tell you, that's not the case with this one. This tool
isn't 100% perfect which means that it's safe to take it out and use it. Of course, the imperfections aren't easy to spot so it could go on display and look great, but in the interest of convincing users to splurge on this one, here are a few photos showing the rub marks where the plier head and blade make slight contact:
I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was trying to pull a fast one. Many of the marks you see are reflections, so I circled the ones that are actual marks so you didn't think it was pummeled to hell and back!
Also, as we are at 70% of the goal on January 6th, and with Joe's prize pack ending on the 13th, there's a very good chance we'll hit the goal by midnight on the 15th, adding the potential for an Early Bird Draw prize too...
Holy crap, we are starting 2016 with a heck of a pile of stuff! As Kelly Bundy would say, the mind wobbles!
