It's sad too think what happened in these places  . Many know I work with elderly with dementia and have done for 13 years now, i've done a lot of training in mental illness, sadly lots of methods was terrible back then and for one I'm so glad it's changed so much,cool pics and creepy

Creepy place indeed ...

After you posted a pic of this place in the "SAKs in public places" topic I did some searching on the net and since I learned a bit about the history of that place I can't stop thinking about "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" ...  .  I also checked the parking lot on the pics to see if I could see the mystery mobile parked over there  .

But there's a lot more to this place than just the creepy history I guess.

Nice pics.  Reminds me of when I was younger, there was an abandoned sanitarium in the woods in an area known as the Hilltop.  Most of the buildings were there, along with service tunnels between them.  Creepy place, and honestly a bit stupid to be playing around in, but we weren't exactly the brightest bunch at times.    Here's a website showing how it was- http://www.mountainsanatorium.net/  There's nothing left now.....

We are a peculiar species here. I wouldn't imagine that somebody in this forum would find Asylums interesting. Here is a century old postcard from the Dromokaitio hospital in Athens. It is situated on the Iera Odos (Holly Street, the road of the ancient Panathenaea) near the Dafni Monastery and the later (WWII) and greater Dafni Psychiatric Hospital where I was resident for two years and a half.
What's next, ECT?

Great photos. It made me ponder how the outside could look so good, but the interior so decayed. I take it all the cars in the parking lot are for some other nearby establishment (s)?

Ohio University now owns the old asylum. Some of it they remodeled and redone to use for offices and some classrooms. but most of it is being unused. the main building, or Lyn Hall was finsihed construction in 1873. I believe they started in 1866.

Who are we kidding ... we're all a bunch of nerds here, collecting multitools and Swiss Army Knives, Star Wars Lego, even lightsabers ...

And most of us like "The Big Bang Theory", I think it's pretty obvious ... 

= see, all the clues are pointing in one direction
