I believe how you plan to carry the multi is the deciding factor.

In the pocket? Medium size is better for comfort
In a bag? Full size is better usefulness

I don't need a multitool in my pocket all the time just to be prepared for random stuff, so I like to keep it in my backpack that is usually a few feet from me. Therefore the medium size is pointless to me, so that eliminates the Spirit, Wave, Rebar, PST, etc. That leaves the Supertool, Surge, and Swisstool X. For me, I value the Victorinox qualities more than the Leatherman.

So I voted Swisstool X

Also, outside of the USA the Charge is very expensive (here its about 1.25 times the price of a Spirit).

Here, the Charge TTi is 1.6 times the price of a Spirit and the Charge Al is about 1.4 times. Charges go for about $160, Charge Al's go for about $140, and Spirits about $100.

I'm more surprised that the Surge has the Wave beaten, in fact its surprising that the Wave is not at the top.
I was surprised at that too, since I didn't put a price limitation and the Charge is a higher spec'd Wave...

Swisstool x is my favorite. Has been abused for over a year now and except for all the scratches it feels like the day i got it out if the box. And it is my favorite toolset with the heavy duty scissors and the good utility knife and the beefy pliers.

That is golden statement.

I carry Mini-Surge (Wave) in pocket because it has pocket clip and OHO blades.
Spirit stays in backpack when we go out.
But I do think Spirit is better MT than Wave.
