Greetings from southeast Michigan!
on: October 23, 2015, 06:34:39 PM
Hi!

I've been carrying SAKs for more than three decades now and a few years ago bought my first LM Wave. I'm more a simple enthusiast than collector, but I'm wonder what effect a place like this might have on me...

I was a late bloomer, never had cause or a thought to carry anything until young adulthood, when I took a temp job at a plastic packaging manufacturer. Immediately I discovered I was the only one on the shop floor without his own cutting tool, be they box cutters, pocket folders, or the occasional SAK. Not one to do things halfway, I took part of my first paycheck and bought a Vic Woodsman (I guess the Huntsman is the new version of this.)

It served me well in everyday life long after that job ended. Years later I bought a Champion and donated the Woodsman to a friend. After a decade of EDC with that, I bought a SwissChamp and left the Champion with my parents. The SC is still with me sixteen years later. See, I told you I'm not a collector!  :D

Anyway, I've lurked here for a few weeks and enjoyed your company from a distance, and now I hope you'll welcome a humble MT/SAK user who really has no ambitions to collect an arsenal (he said, naively.) In my brief time, I've learned a few things:

1. Threads are useless without pics, and
2. For some reason, I'm required to blame some 'Kirky' person for everything.

With that in mind, here's the obligatory pic of my current SAKs. The little guy is a Vic Illuminator, Marlboro-branded as a party-favor and an heirloom from my late father-in-law. As an heirloom, it stays in the drawer. The black-scaled SwissChamp is my EDC. That behemoth in the rear is a WorkChamp XL, a surprise birthday gift from my wife, which is my shelf queen (the knife, not the wife!)

Sorry for the poor quality, but my good camera has some bizarre malfunction and I haven't had a chance to replace it. I guess I should blame that on "Kirky"?

EDC: SwissChamp, Swisstool X, Zippo, Mini Maglite, all on my belt. I'm one more sheath away from becoming Batman.

 Welcome to the forums

You seem to catch up quickly ( :kirky: ) so I'll say this once and then responsibility is all yours: run, run away and don't look back... this place is infested with the worst bunch of enablers I've ever seen :dwts: -and we're all proud of that.

Very true that :worthless: so here are a few pics to illustrate my point.

What you see here is my non-collection of SAKs and MTs after about one year of just browsing MT.O. Some pieces have been added since. I only had a Classic and a Harvester before I discovered this place. A part of my meager income's cash flow seemed to have been automatically channelled to SAK purchases at some point and I consider myself a man with enough self-restaint.

I know I'm a SAK Knight but I'm also a human being and giving you a chance to escape doom is only fair. Consider yourself warned ::)

welcome mate
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
