Only part I do not like about the Signal is not having full or half sized file on board. Seen the whistle replacement on Etsy.

OiI, if you don't mind loosing the saw, the Wave/Charge file is a true drop-in replacement mod, and I can vouch for the KVP bit holders: those are the ones I've had in two of my Signals for a year now!

I picked up a new to me Signal this past week. Gave it a good cleaning this weekend and cleaned up some light rust staining on the plier jaws and awl this afternoon during lunch. Also sharpened the blade while I was at it. Should be good as new now and ready for this upcoming Signal challenge. I also ordered a sheath and bit kit from the mothership.

Found a Wave/Charge File on Ebay. Will drop in there then and carry the Signal on the Recumbent.. Of all the tool implements over all this time with Leatherman/Victorinox tools, the saw is probably the least used. Have used a saw a few times for small work. A metal saw would of been better. Had misplaced one I had from J-Sews that fit in the older Leatherman tools.

  Thank You!  :like:

Carrying the Signal today. Yesterday, the bit holders Juan recommended in post 870 was delivered in the mail. Swapped out the ferry rod whistle and sharpener this morning. It is now better set up for urban carry. The added tweezers is a nice touch.

:like: I think mine will retain its sharpener and ferro rod for now. But it's great to have that option available! :tu:

Thanks buddy!  I'm having fun with it.  Had the whistle out and I hope to start a fire with it  :D. Already put the awk and blade to work on a cup of coffee

Some fun pics!  I couldn't wait to get enough together to use the fire starter  :D

After that, I put the wire cutters to work!

Edit: The whistle works as advertised.  I've carried a No. 8 Outdoors with whistle on my hikes for years now.  The advertising has got that right.  You'll run out of voice before you run out of whistle.

Thanks Poncho!  Having fun with it.  I've been carrying it since I got it and really like how it carries.  I've always been a fan of Leatherman blades and cutters!

How did that little ferro rod work? I have one from Wazoo Survival Gear laying around somewhere. It's slightly larger than the one in the Signal, and I'd consider it a backup for a larger one.

I wish I could have gotten a video Dan   It actually does really well.  It throws a good spread of sparks, as much as a bigger block Ferro rod that I have does.  The only thing I wonder about is longevity.  I know it's a backup, but I think it would be a good idea to have a bigger one in your pack.

I used some lint from our clothes dryer as tinder, and the Signal Ferro rod did a great job with that.  My wife heard that whistle from within our closed up house, so it definitely gets the job done 👍.

I like that this thread is turning into Barry’s Signal adventure. I really enjoy seeing what you are getting up to. I like that color combo too. Guaranteed not to get lost in the woods should you accidentally drop it.

 I think I can definitely keep it lively JonesE!  +1 on the color combo.  I almost lost my PM 2 in the woods one summer with the digital camo/black oxide combo.  After that, I tied an orange lanyard to it.

Well, I said I could keep it exciting   We went out to get a Christmas tree and took a long out handsaw.  Well, we get there and the saw had a failure structurally   I had put the Signal in my pocket from using it earlier to tighten up my kitchen chair.  Well, I thought it's an emergency saw so here goes!  Viola!  The saw cut through the pine like hot butter!

Attached are pics from the kitchen chair repair and an after action pic of that wonderful saw!
