Actually the Wingman/Sidekick are a little along those lines.

BTW, I'm using Klein bits in the Reactor now. They're milled better, are slightly longer so they're easier to pull out, and they have a spring-loaded ball bearing to hold them in.

Nice of you to give us all this info.  :tu: Do you think the Reactor plierhead could fit in a Pocket Powerplier?

I don't have a Pocket Powerplier.  Is it similar to the head in the Powerduo?  That looks like it's longer and narrower.

It looks like the Pocket Powerplier has less gears than the Reactor/Powerplay too.

Gears are in the handle, so it looks like that doesn't matter.

The biggest thing is that the bit driver needs more clearance in the tool, so maybe it wouldn't fold into the handle.  Look at the photo of the three SOG tools partially open above.

(Image removed from quote.)
That particular Pocket PowerPlier is the old version, made before production was shipped to China.  You can tell because it has the hexagonal pivot screws, rather than the newer torx screws, and the old plier head. new iterations of the Pocket PowerPlier have the same plier head as the PowerDuo, characterized by the more refined needlenose point and smaller bolt gripping area.

It does look like the Reactor and Power Play have more gear teeth than the PPP. I wonder why that is?

I need a couple more SOGs for comparison.  Need to order some accessory tools too.

Does the PowerPlay fit the standard SOG parts, or did they change the blade pivots?

Oh, and how is the file?

That was a photo off Amazon. Here's the photo form SOG's website. Looks like the head on the Powerduo.

The outside-opening tools definitely look different to me. The inside-opening are similar, but have cutouts on the file and saw to fit the different head. It looks like the only one that's the same to me is the awl and large flat screwdriver. I'm not sure about the pivots.

Looking closer, it looks like the lock notch is a lot bigger than the standard tool.

Thats too bad, as the file on other SOG tools kinda suck. I wonder why they designed it with such a wide lock tab? the easy customization was one of the last good things about SOG tools, and it looks like that isnt an option on the PowerPlay.

You can see that it's a new lock. I think they said on one of the SHOT show videos that they viewed it as an improvement.

Wow!  The Powerlock is HUGE compared to the Powerplay and Reactor and all of the other SOG tools I've owned up to this point.

Can you post comparison pics with the two?

Oh cool, I was expecting the PowerPlay to be comparable to the PowerLock in height. How do they compare width wise?

Also, how is the file on the PowerPlay? Better than the PowerLocks?

And finally... did they actually make the PowerPlays Phillips head driver smaller than the PowerLocks #1?

Files are comparable grit.

Yes, the Powerplay Phillips screwdriver is smaller.

Wow the Powerplay is chunky. I really like the profile of the Powerlock. I was hoping the Powerplay would be similar in dimensions. Thanks for the pics Tom. I don't think the Powerplay is enough to uproot my PL.
