What about the quality of the powerplay? Is it sturdy? Is it possible to compare with the LM wave which share almost the same tool load?

It seems very sturdy to me.

Go back a couple pages to see pictures with the Wave and many others.

Yah, it looks like some of the bits I've bought over the years that are rounded at the tip so they'll fit more screw sizes. This one slips out of screws for me though. I've already bunged it up.

Yeah I've seen. But I don't understand the problem of the bit holder. Is necessary to squeeze strong the handles to spin correctly?

You do have to squeeze the handles together to get the bit to stay tightly in the holder. Some of the videos from SHOT show this well.

Could someone post some comparison shots or direct me to a thread between PowerLock, PowerAssist, and Pocket PowerPlier?

Looks like PowerAssist is close to the PowerLock, and the Pocket PowerPlier is smaller.

OK, at first I was so excited about these two tools, PowerPlay looked really nice.
Now... well. Not so much. Seems that they actually went the wrong way with these...
I really like my PPP and PowerLock and it seems that they are the SOGs I stick with.

Also Tom, earlier you asked that your favorite tool makers would make a MT (Wiha maybe?)...
Please don't ask for that. I love Bahco tools, but the recent Bahco MT is pretty lame.
They also made a step back as their earlier models were better.
You better not ruin your favorites by asking them to do something they are not familiar with.

So, what's the general opinion on the Powerplay in comparison to the Powerlock?
I have an offer for a Powerlock, and already own one, but I don't know if the PowerPlay's Compound leverage could compete against the Powerlock's.

If so, I'd go for it. Wanna try it out. But the offer on the Powerlock is so darn good. And I need all that gripping power.

Any help here?  ???
Thanks

Here are the comparison photos again. You can see that the PowerLock is much heavier built.

Tom Munch, how are the Phillips and file on the powerplay?

Pretty bad, actually.  The Phillips is small and blunt and slips out of every size screw I've tried.  The file is pretty standard for SOG, and isn't very aggressive on either side.

So, here's my problem guys. Hope you'll help me out...
I EDC a big MT and med size tool on the belt. I used to carry the Powerlock/Blacktip but it was too heavy and long for belt carry, so it now goes in the bag.

I, for my particular needs and tasks, need a Comp. Lev. tool for my belt carry (carried the Juice, which I hope a member of this board ^^^^ is already enjoying , but it wasn't what I needed), and I thought the PPP would serve me well.

It has, and it's light and so, but it lacks locks (indispensable to me) and the toolset is almost the same as the Powerlock/Blacktip, so I lose a lot of versatility with the package.

I ask now: is the Powerplay the new PPP I am looking for? (C.Leverage and a strong bite, locking tools, smaller and lighter than the big SOGs...)
Thanks!
Thankseverybody.

That's a tough question. It fits your criteria, but it's a different animal than the PPP - not as light  or compact. The tools are different too and not swappable.

Do those washers eliminate the tool clumping? They really increase the width, I'd much rather have a slimmer handle with tools that clump. :-\
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

They don't totally eliminate the clumping, but they help.

Thanks for putting this up.  :tu:

After watching the video and reading the comments I still want one  honestly I've found that for me personally I won't know whether I like a tool or not until I get it in hand and use it for a while. I think people forget that multitools are compromises. They will never be better than dedicated tools, but using a reactor as a screwdriver will be better than using your car keys. So I still will be getting a reactor. Sad to see so many people write it off of being "leatherman only" guys based one video.  :crash:

ps I do want to mention that I like the Lateboy Scout. Some of his reviews I don't fully agree with, but he's still helpful in the way he does reviews.

I really like the Reactor. The only thing that keeps me from carrying it everyday is that some days I wear pants that have threads in the pocket seam that get caught too easily on the gears in the plier hinge as I slide the Reactor into my pocket. I wish they would have put gear covers on them like the larger tools.

Got to fiddle with the reactor today at REI. It's much smaller and lighter than I anticipated. I'm not sure it's worth the $55 tag they wanted. Not sure I would pay more than $30 for one. It seems like a decent tool. I still want one if the right deal presents itself or if I got it as a gift.

Finally got my Reactor! On my way home from Texas, stayed the night in Colorado Springs where there "just happened" to be an REI nearby ;) ;)

I like it so far. It's no Skeletool, but that suits me just fine because I don't really like the Skeletool. Its super compact and light and has a great pocket clip.

This is a suitable replacement for my beloved Octane (finally)
