Display for Soldiers and Officers
on:
February 05, 2016, 12:43:46 AM
I've been lurking for a while, but registered to post this.
I've been collecting Soldiers and Officers. I wanted a nice display for the collection, so I designed this display case. My father has a woodworking shop, so he helped me turn the design into a reality.
I think I sub-consciously came up with this design after seeing that famous page from "The Knife and Its History". It wasn't intentional, but I saw that page again recently and I realized that was the inspiration. So, I must give credit.
Notice the top two shelves remain empty because I still hope to get my hands on an original Soldier and an original Officer some day. Here's hoping.
The bottom section is the "Knife Assembling Kit" that is available at a few of the flagship stores. I got this one at the Victorinox Store and Museum in Brunnen. I declined to make a reservation to assemble the kit, because I knew it would look great in a display case like this.

Great display .... the best bit is the two empty shelves at the top .... I suspect this is a collector with two expensive purchases planned for the future

Pretty cool!
Small suggestion, for those people who don't know SAKs: getting small name tags for the various models, maybe with the date of release?
