Need help: Looking for a little friendly folder.
on: April 06, 2016, 07:44:52 AM
Thank you in advance!  :tu:
Need your help and knowledge.

Looking for a folder:

- Friendly aspect. Something like the Victorinox Excelsior or Spyderco Roadie.
- Hole or lanyard is a must for the keyring. No clip or removable.
- If possible 2 blades (1 small) and 1 locking at least.
- As light and thin as possible (alox or SS better than G10)
- 3,5" max. Closed length.
- No clip blades or too agresive blades (Spyderco Ladybug no, Jester better but too expensive and scarce)
- Not very expensive.

The excelsior will be ideal but with locking blade.
I don't like the clip blades of Schrade, Uncle Henry and Case...

Thank you!!!

Kershaw Leek?
Also I am really happy with the Gerber LST2... got one as a bonus on a trade and just fell in love with the little tincan... really strong...
Sanrenmu 7010 is always a good choice.

Thank you all guys!

I would prefer small size (3 inches closed - 2 inches blade) and low profile.
The roadie is a good example.

I'd say go with the Excelsior. A small folder won't be used to do big heavy duty stuff, you'll probably not need a locking blade.

Or, if the lock is a must, look at these:

I think you will be hard pressed to find a small locking knife with more than one blade.

If you can go without a lock, a traditional style knife would be great. they all look friendly (not to mention handsome) and come in a variety of sizes. Id look at Rough Rider, specifically at trapper and Stockman patterns.

Why didn't I say this?!

Maybe they can meet most of the specs.

Viroblock, kinda like Opinel. No lanyard hole.

Also, Opinel nº7: lock blade, lanyard hole, friendly looking.

Because you do not want to support the Portuguese economy.

Thanks to everybody guys!

I said I didn't want clip point blades,( if not the Uncle Henry Journeyman would be great but is China made). So I think my alternatives are:

- Vic Excelsior (I like it)
- Gerbert LST (nice, but a bit small)
- The Canoe Case (but no lanyard ring)

I have a Spyderco Ladybug plain edge in Stainless Steel on the way, but I think may seems too agressive look too. The Jester is less but is a kind of a wide clip point blade and expensive and difficult to find, more instainless steel version!

How about a Ka-Bar Mini Dozier? http://www.kabar.com/knives/detail/62 Available in several colors.

I have a crush on these knives - they are really cheap, light, thin, but I have never even handled one yet. Lol, I really need to get one. Or more.

Also, I wanted to mention that Ka-Bar also make some multi-blade, grandpa style pocket knives, but I don't know how big they are, if they lock, or anything like that.

Forgot those. I got the top model but in the bigger size. Am looking for a little pink one. People will think of it as a toy but if it is anything like the big one, it's the sharpest smurfing smurf I ever had...

You can get a three bladed verson of the Electricians knife with a hawk bill blade added in to the two in the picture.

What about that Opiniel with the screwdriver bits?
