Used a SAK to make a AAk......
on: June 20, 2016, 08:20:52 PM
Went into competition with Victorinox today although I did use one of their knives for tooling.  Decided to make a AAK (Apache Army Knife).  The scale is made of wood (juniper) and I used the saw on the SAK for the blade notch and the large blade for the fine detail.  Found the "blade" for my AAK out in back of my cabin (yes, I do live in the boonies).  The scale was laying around and I had been whittling on it.

The left side is the main blade and the right is the saw on the new AAK.  Kind of like a Lumberjack without the opener.  Only knife I have that smells good and never needs oiling.  Keyring is a possible option but no T & T.    >:D  >:D ::)

Knapped by someone a very long time ago......I believe this is the broken tip of a spear point.  I can just imagine the language when the poor fellow, who had worked on this so long, managed to snap it off for some reason.  Kind of like snapping off your favorite SAK blade.  :ahhh

This was Apache country, so believe that to be the origin.

This is the original "serrated" blade by the way....... :D
