I've been very impressed with the quality of photos members place on the forum.  My attempts to take close up photos with my cell phone have been pretty dismal.  What kind of cameras or techniques are you using to get nice clear close up photos of your knives?

I use only my phone

Using a camera takes too much time with turning on the computer, uploading them to the computer and then downloading them to this site again.

Sometimes I use the tapatalk app for placing pictures in my posts, this is by far the easiest way, but it reduces the quality badly. For the best quality pictures I resize it with the picresize.com website, upload the resized picture to dropbox and use the dropbox link in my posts on this forum.

I use an older Sony Cybershot digital camera and load them to imgur or photobucket and post links to them here.

I use a Canon G12 camera with a Canon 430EX II flash which I attach to the on camera hotshoe. I bounce the flash using the swivel head, 90 degrees onto the ceiling. I then use Corel Paintshop Pro X6 for my post-processing needs.

I mostly use my iPhone 6 Plus. Some of my better older pics were from my Sony DSLR, using a 100mm macro lens. I now have a Nikon D7100, but haven't really taken and MT pics with it.

I personally really like the Nikon COOLPIX S220 = CHEAP & They work so good for me i have 2.  :D :tu:
I do not use my cell phone for pics, because with a Digi camera i can just pop the card into my laptop.
I do not use a HOST SITE ie: Photobucket , No need as i just go load pics straight from "MY PICTURES" on to my laptop.

Digi cam Tips:
MACRO feature = On
FLASH feature = Off
IMAGE MODE feature = PC (1024) - This sizes the pix to what most Websites accept ( such as here )
ANTI SHAKE/VIBRATION feature = On

I Always use Macro for close-up pics/tang stamps.
I never use a Flash.
I Always take pics with the Sun behind me.
I Always have the knife in the shade of my body(sun behind me) , and shade from something else if possible , like a tree, awning, umbrella, etc.

  :D :tu:

I usually use a Canon Powershot S100.  It's the first compact camera I've had where the performance and quality is so good that I actually use it in preference to my SLR.  Not to say it's the equal of an SLR, but it's good.  It's leagues ahead of the S70 I had before, especially for high ISO performance.

Bright indirect sunlight is ideal, try shooting near a window that's facing away from the sun.

I always shoot at full resolution, and then crop & resize on the computer before posting.  Resizing can soften the image so apply a bit of sharpen filter in your image editing software after resizing.
