...the first thing i did when i got it was to pop out that ugly thick "pen scale" and pop in a standard toothpick scale...  >:D
Sooo much better...  ::)

:ahhh The pen is what I need most on the 58mm!
Always funny and interesting how different the requirements are.

Ooh, little SAKs.

Always have one on my keychain and have donated more than one in my time.  Very frustrating as one could likely do more damage with a thumb than you could with a classic.

I've bought them individually and also bought a sizeable lot off Ebay a few years back.  That ended up with me having quite a variety overall, a few of which are pictured here.  The issue with random lots is you get all sorts of advertising on them.  It doesn't bother me, but often I have no idea what the advertising is for. Biaxin XL for example, I assure you, I do not currently have an upper respiratory infection.

The black one has a red LED light in it, which I find largely useless.  Fading eyesight doe not mix well with red LED light.

I paid for the orange classic and the Aboriginal motif classic with the turtles, love that one.  The orange is perpetually on my key ring (used to have a yellow one on there, TFSA took that one) to act as a form of flagging tape should I drop the keys.

Yup... i almost hardly use pens at all, even less sak pens, on the go... When i occasionally need one to write on paper, at work or home, there is usually one (or ten) around.
I don't think i ever used the pen on my plus scaled sak's. That's why i never really got the big fuss over plus scales...  :dunno:

On the minichamp it just makes the sak unnecessarily thicker, and don't really like the aesthetics either

For me the pen is invaluable. I often need to go to clients sites and I am required to sign a register. With this whole Covid thing, I prefer to use my own pen. So the little SAK with a pen is my every day carry.

I'd be happy to send the scale your way, but it was a bit difficult to pop out and i admit being a little rough on it when doing it (and wasn't much concerned with it too)... I cracked it on removal and ended up throwing it away...  :-\
It's a lot harder to take the scales of the 58mm in good shape than a 91mm for example... it's harder to hold while doing it too.
The pen i actually thrown it in my coin pouch along with my other tool utility its and bits, as i can still use it if needed wedged with the Phillips SD in the Phillips layer...  ;)

Goodness gracious!  :o

Ah, after that, I probably bought it from them.

Has any one ever seen a tally of how many SAKs the worlds airports  take from fliers each year? Must be a stratospheric number!

I got these little guys in today. Pretty sure I paid too much, but hey.

The AmFlag and lower EdelweiB and Mini Champ are in good condition, but the upper EdelweiB and the Pepcid Rover are pretty beat up.

I carry an aqua Pepcid Rover on my key ring with another red 58 on the same key ring. The aqua color grew on me. I can tell at a glance which is which and so where the differing tools are. And I especially like having two toothpicks. If I use one to ungunk something other than my mouth, I have another clean pick for my mouth. Handy that way more often than I expected.

Bottom line: you can’t really over pay for mixed color 58s and one covered with Old Glory. Lot of utility there to use, market, or gift. Congrats.

Do all the Rovers have such a small blade? The blade on mine is shorter than a Classic's cutting blade, and is kind of Wharncliffe in shape.

Sounds like the miniChamps Orange Peeler blade.

I see from looking at the Wiki that it was a common variant. Cool.

Um nope, that's different.  :D

Glad you like that. I don't have an esset on my computer, because for some reason, in English somebody descided we don't need that letter.  8)

Rover with 'rescue blade' https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=2475

It might be different, but looking at the picture the blade looks identical to the minichamp orange peeler, just with at tang stamp...

When the mood strikes me to go ultra minimal- Which really is quite rare for me- Then I will pocket carry the Waiter.
I am a big fan of the corkscrew For the obvious tasks like undoing knots etc. but it is also a great scraper tool or for crevicing small Pieces of gold in a pinch.

used the combo tool to scoop a latch bolt on a door when some friends and I found ourselves locked on the roof of a building

As seen in my picture I also- quickly In a moment of need- modified my tweezers into an emergency lock pick. Which I used to pick the lock to my shop one time when I forgot my keys. There is a special way to get the tweezers to stay in the tweezer slot and I can go into that if someone is interested just let me know otherwise just know this mod can cause the tweezers to fall out easily If not put in a certain way.
Cheers

Cant say authoritatively but it’s so with mine. I wondered if it were maybe a cost cutting move for advertising knives. Whatever, it still slices  and cuts like a SAK should.

I've only had advertising Classics with regular blades. Perhaps some used ones have been oversharpened or reshaped on purpose?

With all due respect, I don't think you're calling the right thing an "orange peeler."

The Mini Champ has 8 fold out tools. Two are cutting blades--one is the pen blade, the other is the "emergency blade" or wharncliffe blade. I have those two out in the picture comparing it with the Pepcid knife. There is a hook-like tool on the Mini Champ which some might call an orange peeler, although it is actually different from a true orange peeler tool, which I think is only found on the Executive knife model.

 ;)

I think that's the cotton out of a med bottle puller. With the hook
The orange peeler is the one with the small saw like end...
