Looking for someone to modify a Juice S2.
on:
October 06, 2016, 03:32:08 AM
Hi everyone. I need someone to do a "Slim Jim" modification on a Juice S2 for me.
I've ruined one tool already. I just can't get the pins out. I've tried drilling, grinding, pounding, etc. No dice.
I've got a second tool and a set of screw thingies ready to go that I can send to you. I don't have the funds now, which is why I tried doing it myself, so I just need a quote for the work so I can start saving up. Any takers?

Thanks guys, I'll PM him and see what he says. I'm really bummed out. I thought I had this figured out, but all I wound up with is a bent punch and a handfull of expensive scrap. It's a shame because the Juice S2 is my favorite Leatherman. I really wanted to suceed at modifying one myself.

I have one that is half-disassembled and one that I haven't touched. I went out and bought another punch and diamond bit today, so tomorrow I'm making one last attempt. I'm going to make one last attempt. Here's a pic of how far down I ground and I still can't get the pin to move.

Yes I can do this. However it would awhile before I could.
Those stainless pivots are hard to get out. I would suggest using a center drill then a regular bit.

Hi Steve,9
Thanks for the offer. I was too busy to get to it today, but I'm going to give it one more try. If this doesn't work, I'm just going to send both of them to you. I think you would need to mix and match to get the best parts.
So do I need to grind more, or just try drilling? I picked up a bit that is supposed to work on hardened steel. Why won't it budge after the head has been ground off? I hit it with a steel punch and hammer. All it did was bend the punch. Do I need to heat it to make sure I'm not fighting the red loctite?

There's no loctite on those. It's more like a rivet. It's been work hardened when it was riveted. Just drill slow and use cutting oil. Smoke is normal when doing that. Cut, oil and go slow repeat.

I bought some stainless 1/8" pivots to reassemble it. I just haven't had the time to tackle it.
