Does anyone use Sack-Up slips? Which best size for 91mm SAKs?

Hi - I've read some quite good things about Sack-Ups cotton slips for protecting folding knives for storage or in the pocket, so was thinking of trying out some, but was wondering which size would fit 91mm SAKs best?

They come in 3", 4" and 5" sizes. Obviously the 5" is too large, but so is the 4" size really (it's about 10cm), but the 3" size (just under 7.5cm) is probably too small, however the Sack-Ups look stretchy, so I was thinking that maybe the 3" ones would actually give the snuggest fit, so not fall off from a suspended SAK in the pocket etc.

Has anyone used Sack-Up slips for 91mm SAKs and, if so, which size fits best? I'm mainly looking to use these with 3 and 4 layer 91mm SAKs with a Tec P7 clip attached to the keyring. Thanks!

BTW Hennie Haynes sell an assortment pack with 2 each of 3", 4" and 5", but it would seem a bit of a waste as all my folding knives (including non-SAKs) are less than 4", even my (only) Leatherman (a Knifeless Fuse) is 4":

The other thing I've been using is the Saktory Microfibre pouches that are sold here: http://www.swisstool.co.u...e-pouch-swiss-army-knife/

They fit 91mm SAKs and small Spydercos like the Urban and Pingu perfectly, but are a bit pricey for what they are (£6.95, unless bought with a SAK, in which case they're £3.95), and require loosening the drawstring before taking the knife out, which is a bit of a faff:

I have used Sak-ups for years but not for my SAKs  :-\ I do quite :like: them for traditional folders and I would think that the 4 inch may be best for the 91mm SAK  I have used a 3 in one for a Zippo and it works quite well for that as they do stretch quite a bit

But as I said I can't say whether they would stay around a suspended SAK in your pocket or not  They do totally protect them.in your pocket though, we'll my trad folders anyway ;)

Okay, thanks. I may pass then, as I really want something I can use with a suspended SAK.

I should probably look into getting some sort of padded case for storing my SAKs and small Spydercos, though, as keeping them in a plastic box isn't great. Do you have any recommendations for something that would hold about 10 or 12 SAKs/ small Spydies without them scratching-up each other?

I think the sack ups are treated with an anti corrosion compound, which Vic stainless steel doesn't really need. Maybe a knife roll would work just as well?

Something like this might work >> https://www.amazon.com/United-Cutlery-UC1337-Knife-Storage/dp/B000QE7WJC/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1476479005&sr=8-8&keywords=pocket+knife+roll

I have 2 older and cheaper versions of this idea, but can't find them at the moment, they have worked fine for keeping knives protected and separated.  :tu:

I use them for storage of CV or 1095 steel knives. They are silicone treated and do help prevent rust. I do not use them for SAKs.

Just a thought.....

Get a sock like cover, and cut a small hole in the closed end for the attachment point to poke through. Maybe even fit a brass grommet. Attack the suspension clip with a spring clip rather than just the split ring. The sock will be unable to fall off, as the open end will be downwards.

For quick tasks, just slide the sock back and consider the inverted sock like a slightly bulky lanyard. For tasks where that would be intrusive, unclip the suspension clip allowing the sock to slide off completely.

Sorry, that's the best I can come up with at the minute
