My guess would suggest someone used a grinder.  The SI doesn't look that well used for the blade to have been ruined like that.   Its a lot of material to have removed just "casually" sharpening.

Different scales too - no engraving plate on the back, and different pattern on the alox - put a Pioneer next to a Wenger SI or Soldier and you'll see what I mean, especially around the edges of the scales

Also I much prefer the comfortable Wenger SI bail to the painful keyring nub on Pioneers. though you have to be careful not to close the knife on it

I believe that's how much he was asking in general, which I believe was full blown MSRP for the tool.
