Poll

Your most commonly carried multitool is:

Pliers based (LM wave, squirt, Victorinox Spirit etc..)
Knife based (Victorinox camper, Manager, Kershaw SelectFire etc...)
Scissors based (LM Micra, SOG Crosscut etc..)
Other (E. g. Hammer based.. State)
I never carry a multitool

Mostly I carry the Victorinox Manager, as it is on my keychain. Any other multitool or knife will be carried less.

So, I would say that I mainly carry a knife based multitool (I consider SAKs as multitools)

When I drive different cars I have a Squirt (pliers based) or a LM Micra (Scissors based), but overall the manager keychain is carried for the most time.

Plier based. It makes it easier with the Aussie nanny state laws. I rarely carry a knife only.

Used to be knife based, CT41, but years ago I switched to pliers base because of the LM Surge.

I do carry a verity of gear depending on circumstance and mood, but a small pliers based MT still makes up my base carry more often than not.

My two main MTs are the Wave and the Juice S2. Definitely pliers based.

Plier based.  No matter what combination it is,  there will be at least a pliers based  tool.  I usually carry a skeletool or rebar, with a minichamp which is always on my keychain, and a folder if I need a dedicate knife. When it comes to minimalist, I will take a squirt to pair with the minichamp.  Or when I need to work in airport that day,  I will put down even the minichamp and take the dime travel with me.  Any combination includes a pliers based tool. In some very rare ocassions,  I may take the climber only or a folder with minichamp....

I would say the skeletool is knife based that happens to have pliers. It's ergos are designed like a folder.

During the week it's pliers based for me - Charge or Spirit

Weekends primarily knife based

Either way I always have some form of a knife on me at all times

Knife based for me. 84mm victorinox > all.  :climber:
If someone would make me a plier based multitool with a knipex plierwrench head I'd be all over it. But until sucn a time, a Sak+knipex combo is the epitomy of edc utility for me.

More than anything else, hands down, a Swiss Army Knife.  Usually it is my yellow scaled Compact, and that is often paired with a plier based tool, but I almost always have a SAK of one sort on me or within arm's reach.  If it isn't my Compact, it's the Wenger Swiss Clipper.

Both.  As of lately, I've been forgoing the folder for a thinner Vic, carried along with an LM.

Knife-based is definitely more common for me.  SAK first, then a plier-based adds to/supplements the SAK.  I work at home, and usually only carry a SAK around the house.

Plier based. Been EDCing a Spirit for a long time now. It's rare when I switch it out for a Vic. I haven't carried a Leatherman in ages.

I carry many tools, but the main player is the Spirit, so I vote for pliers.

For the longest time, I carried a Vic OH Soldier but probably going to switch to Vic Spirit.. it rides well in the pocket and doesn't feel like a boat anchor or have sharp edges
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I probably carry knife based and pliers based equally, so couldn't vote

It used to be that I preferred pliers carry, but since getting a job requiring smart business styling (not that I mind), I just have a 91-93mm SAK in addition to my key ring.  Belt carry isn't an option, and thus, neither is pliers, more or less.

Same here. I find pliers tools simply too heavy to carry around everywhere. I usually keep one in my bag until I need it.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Pliers based Leatherman. I used to carry a Victorinox 91mm for years and years before that but once I got used to carrying a Leatherman with a oho blade it became my favorite.
