Exciting?  Some can be, that's for sure.  The anticipation I had when the Skeletool was released can't be denied.  I remember handling it for the first time at SHOT in 2008 was a very gratifying experience.

The excitement around the Spirit when it was released was also quite palpable.

Sexy?

I dunno- that's not really a term I use, even to describe things that actually are sexy, and I have never felt the need to perform adult actions with a set of pliers, so I have to say I don't really agree with that.  I also tend to think of multitools as manly things (because I am a sexist pig), and I just don't consider masculine things to be sexy.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just isn't what floats my boat.  :P

Maybe I chose the wrong adjectives. I'm not really sure whether "sexy" has the same meaning in English and Dutch, or whether it has exactly the same meaning for any two persons. I do not mean sexy as in erotic, but rather as in beautifully, eye catchingly shaped, making you want to have it.

In that case I suppose the Spirit fits that description.  :D

Wrong adjective. Interesting? Definitely. Fascinating? Probably. Sexy? no.

Not sexy, I think I have a different opinion of what is sexy. Exciting yes, well the anticipation is. When you start using the knife or multi there is normally a certain amount of let down.

There might be a cultural difference here. I sometime said some piece of optic was sexy and Americans were angry. One said that I was a pervert or something and that is obvious by the nudity in my avatar's troll! For your information, Alex in my avatar was a sociopath but he wears trousers.
In Europe we use that expression. It doesn't mean we want to make kids with our Spirit, but that it has appeal to us, similar to sex appeal. It attracts us subconsciously. Sexual denotations might be present. A Spirit looks like a slim woman figure with long legs and perfect skin, don't you see it? It looks like a ballerina.
Yes, I find them "sexy". It might be a European way of seeing things. It's no secret we think about sex 99% of the time, where I'm from at least. So we see things through that prism.
Another way of seeing things comes from the product of sex, offsprings. We like things that have childish proportions and characteristics. Think Mickey Mouse, Fiat 500, Zach Galyfianakis etc.
I find SAKs playful in a childish way. Spirit is sexy. Other tools (Surge, Swisstool etc)  are macho. I can see knives in a similar way. Think Ladybug, Mora, Kukri. See?

Nah, that's just an illusion of knife-addicts.
