Still, with all that been said. I didn't begin this subject to TRASH the Alinghi.  This is a QUALITY KNIFE!!

As you can see in the picture, whoever designed it put alot of thought  and LOVE  into it. Much more than I have seen in the the knife industry in general!!

This baby is worth any amount of money you spend for it(still, spend your money with the Felinevet Tim  ).
Now the time has come to "tweek" this baby to its rightful GOD-LIKE status!!!

It is a beautiful knife for what it is, but if I spend $100 on it I'd never use it for fear of scratching.

I use marlinspikes to undo knots and tangles.   The one on the Alinghi is also a ruler, and I use it for that quite a bit.

Still, with all that been said. I didn't begin this subject to TRASH the Alinghi.  This is a QUALITY KNIFE!!

It is my favorite of the big ones.

Tim has the best price I have seen on it on his website right now  (under $100).

Ironically, I just came back from Lancaster celebrating the wifes anniversary

.(FELINEVET TIM- did you get my phone message??).

I received, JUST BEFORE I LEFT FOR LANCASTER, from Felinevet Tim, a Wenger Ranger 61 with clip
http://www.wengerna.com/ranger-61-with-clip-black
& a Ranger 172(with SCISSORS)
http://www.wengerna.com/ranger-172-black

What is mind boogling is both the 172 and Alinghi use the same spring mechanism for both the scissors(172) and pliers(Alinghi).
And this spring mechanism which "limits" the pliers width is perfect for the for the scissors  :tu:

The 172 is PERFECT for gardening.
The scissors are strong enough to use as pruning shears,
the serrated knife is good for brambles,
and then there's that saw :)

I wonder what the Alinghi SUI1 is like

The lack of gape is why I always stayed away from them .
