Easy to agree with most or all of that.

I agree for the most part. The complete customization would probably come at a premium so not sure how well that would go over

It would work with victorinox alox models with screws instead of pins. you would just order the parts you need and get a diy kit...  :D

That would work to a degree. Not all combinations can work probably, but still a great idea

I'm actually surprised that planned obsolescence hasn't become widespread in the MT industry. Makes me wonder how LM and other traditional tools makers are surviving. Maybe this is the reason why LMT is going into the watch business also

As always when this topic comes up, I disagree :D

Construction worker usually use utility knives == short replaceable blades. So, a longer blade is probably not appealing to them. So, I kinda doubt that the Center drive is marketed at construction workers (they usually have a tool-belt anyway) or means that Gerber is listening to what these customers want.
Meaning that the construction workers in the video, that is just a marketing strategy to show how tough the tool is.
No, that tool is targeted at the EDC crowd (which we are also part off, but  most people here go for utility and less for style). This adds an additional advantage, as those people use their tools much less roughly leading to less warranty claims. So, yeah Gerber was listening to their customers, and they want a longer blade (longer is better)... But so was LM, when they built the Signal. Besides I firmly believe that the Signal is an evolutionary step in the LM body design / next gen Wave).

As for the half tools and color variations. Well, they are just to make money, which is what companies are for.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.
