On May 5th 1818 Karl Marx was born. 200 years anniversary. This so called berry red is a shade of red typically found on communists' flags.

It's a completely new file... I can't find my silver Cadet but the Wenger and Classic file is pretty much identical in texture to the traditional Cadet file.
The colour is quite easy to distinguish from the old red (assuming my Pioneer X in red is the standard red. I have put it next to a 111mm for reference.)
All in all it's a really lovely, cheerful colour - given the choice I'd pick this over the usual red. I didn't get the 2017 Cadet cos I felt the green was a bit blando in person but this Cadet is a real beauty which I look forward to using a lot.

The new file is really great. Very aggressive but not too much that you can't use it on fingernails. By removing the untextured area of the file, it becomes an awful lot more useful - like a mini version of the file on the Mountaineer/Ranger etc.

I wonder if they stole the idea from the great SAK innovators in the far east...

it's an ok change of pace if you don't have the regular red already. i guess

Lol, how many people on this forum don't have a red alox SAK lying around somewhere? Nevermind just this forum, how many people who may be interested in buying a special edition SAK (mostly collectors I am guessing) wouldn't already have some red alox in their collection?

[Those two on the right look damn near identical to me. Which one of those two is the new color, and which is the old? (I am guessing new color is in the middle, but that is just based off the logical way I would arrange the SAKs if I was taking the shot, not because I can tell the damn difference in color.) Why did Vic make the special edition color this year so... not special?

Correct.  I should've said that the Berry Red knife is in the middle.  Maybe next year the color will be Blood Orange, or Heritage Cherry Tomato, or Slightly Under-Ripe Red Bell Pepper and they can continue to exploit the vast space between their regular orange and regular red.

My 2018 limited is very close to my red farmer. But there is a difference if you look closely.
