Thanks, Wim!
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

Looks good!  :tu:

Makes me wonder if Vic uses something a bit harder than brass in their pins, as I’ve never noticed it on a factory knife.

The use nickel silver pins on the alox knives, which is harder than brass.

Thanks

And thanks for the info on the pins. I knew they used nickel silver for the 93mm line, but didn’t realize they used it on other alox sizes.

Great job, love me some Alox Rambler, the best 58mm, too bad it is not officially available (only seriously overpriced).

I found out that the easiest way to do it, is to place the Minichamp on soft wood, then rather than drill, push the pins out into the wood (with a pointy center punch).
This has 2 major benefits:
- no damage to the scales if you are careless with the drill
- You then can remove the top scales and layer by layer (the wood and the bottom-scale holds everything in place) with ease.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

That’s a good idea that I may try next time. My 1/16” punch isn’t pointy, so it may not work. I’m also surprised the nickel silver pins don’t deform the alox being driven through them. Depending on the aluminum alloy they use, the pins may be harder than the scales  :dunno:

I found out by accident... wanted to mark the center for drilling... and swooosh, pins were out.
Tested it on other models, but it only works with 58mm alox.
