Or you could just use titles eg: "Unscewing the pivots of the donor MP400" followed by three minutes of unscrewing

That's what I need to look into, as the titles weren't wrapping, so I might have to edit that in an separate program, plus look at best placement on screen if I'm adding notes such as describing having to align the tabbed washers.

Project: Hobby Desk has gone a little quiet at the moment, but is covered in tiny screws and components. The main worklamp crapped out on me, so that's currently in bits.

I think it's the lamp holder that's gone, as I'd got the right PD across the terminals, and neither of the two bulbs are now working, so I've ordered another ceramic G4 holder to drop in.

Aside from that, I think I've now got everything I need to make a start on some of the modding, so once the lamp works again, I'll start having a play around.

Yeah, we had a chat about that  :tu:

I hope to get this back up and running soon. That mini machining centre thing is still in its box, and i've got loads of stuff I want to move forwards with.

Yeah, I remember saying something and posting a pic but I also had a 1 on 1 conversation with Zed about it so I had to search for it to fig what I said and to who, there’s too many topics! lol..

Well, I might not be able to start making stuff yet, but at least I can start crunching some ideas. Although, some of them may well prove to be too ambitious.

The bottom one on the pad (ignore the top one, that's still just wishful thinking) will probably be first. Something relatively simple, just to test out a few basics. New scales and bolsters for the RSK Mk5, but milled to key inside the frame, rather than just on the outer faces.

Not entirely sure what to do about the lanyard hole area yet.

Cute knife,, I kinda like the wishful thinking, working up a rose compass? I was looking into making one into a tattoo for myself..

Yeah, there's a few detailing ideas that I've been mapping out. The compass one is the most likely to fail miserably  I don't think I'll be able to work the materials precise enough to make it work. I'll give it a go though. If nothing else, it will be a valuable learning curve.  :tu:

Thankfully, I have some other ideas which will be a little more sensible for a vision impaired, wonky brain stemmed, klutz like me  :D

The RSK Mk5 sure is a cute little knife, but I'm not a fan of the "two point contact" handling, and hopefully a pair of scales should improve it considerably. Other than fitting the scales, I want to square off the spine to a sharp corner, and make a dual sheath which holds that and a fire steel.

The Swiss knife mods will (if they work) be a lot more complex, so this will be a nice starter project to get the feel for some of the repeating processes, without knackering anything important up.

Interesting, I look forward to progress! :tu:
I myself have a few things if I ever get to them, one is a new hat, the one I currently wear has a lot of pins in to show my support but I’ve gotten tired of getting poked, so I want to get patches rather the pins and stitch them in, thus no more getting poked! But that’s not the best part, the hat I got has built in led lights and switch in the brim, a 48 lumen no hands flashlight! :)

Well , you just need that 3” piece of stock, maybe 1/2-3/4” thick, if aluminum you could probably turn it in 5min..

Oh come on, I can’t just spill the beans, besides you don’t have your lathe set up.. I tell you what, I’m working on something very similar yet using a carriage bolt. I just don’t have a lathe so I’m doing it in reverse, the stock isn’t turning the Dremels doing the turning.. so it’s going to take a while, and if it turns out good I’ll post it. I’d post what I’m working on but I can’t send photos in a pm..

No worries :D

Hopefully I should have the lamp back up and running next week, so maybe by next weekend, I might be able to finally get a play with it.

It looks like I need to grind my own lathe tools, but there is some stock included, and I've got a few simple milling tools for it now too - a few dinky little endmills in HSS, and a carbide slot drill. I'll probably fudge anything else I need to do with dremel tools for now. I only need to do some simple rebating and thicknessing to start with anyway.

Dang that took 2-1/2hrs, of course if I had a bench grinder it would have cut the time in a 1/4, and yet with a lathe probably down to 10min, but here it is, a duct tape keychain, not big and not heavy. I did something a while back using a cotter pin which worked great, only problem was it started to fall because there was nothing to support it.
Anyway, here you can see the carriage bolts head will support the tape as it hangs, but on mine the two nuts that I jammed together to create the end isn’t as wide as the head so you can see the edge of the tape, and over time might get a little ripped up, unlike that other one I posted, that’s kinda what I was aiming for,

Nice work!  :tu:
Thanks, not bad, it will do it’s job, but definitely not the best!
It will hold 18-24” of duct tape depending on what brand, that’s gorilla tape and since it’s so thick only 18”, but if it was regular stuff then easily another 6”.. but as you can see in that one pic the two other ones are two diff sizes, and I can say it’s come in handy!

I tried doing some commentary for that Gerber mod video.

I can't do it :dwts:

I've stood on stage in front of a couple or three hundred faces, no problem. In fact I found it more nerve wracking, the fewer people were in front of me. Talking . into a microphone with nobody else there ...  :ahhh too weird!

I think I need to overcome this somehow, as commentary will make it MUCH easier for the audience to follow along on some of the future videos.

Don’t feel so bad, I can’t do it myself, I can’t do crowds, heck even if we have company my big thing is reading, I was never good in reading especially being  dyslexic and if we’re playing one of these games that you got to read a card out loud and I don’t know the word and I have to try to pronounce I’ll freeze, tense up, the face turns red, that’s normally when someone says “you mean _____”? Yeah yeah that’s it. I’m horrible!
