Mountaineer Slim.
on: November 30, 2008, 11:54:13 PM
After doing my Super Classic SD (which was never meant as a EDC knife) I really started to like it and thought all it needed to become a good design was a way to get into bottles and cans.  So after pulling it apart and adding a combo tool (thanks Neil  :tu:) a new knife was born.  Following my earlier naming procedure this is now called the Mountaineer Slim.

I hope you like the knife more than the bad pic.

Thanks chaps, it is tool selection I'm happy with.

The Technogolfer looks cracking too Ben.  If I had had a phillips spare then I would have strongly thought about putting one on there.

The thing that is kinda cool on SAK is you can find the model perfect for you, and  if not you can make it.

Nice, but, I can't believe you resused that scale.  I thought you'd bin it when you stripped the knife down  ::)

If you're going to create such nice mods I may have to insist on sending you some better scales  :pok:

Only a stopgap measure on the scales, I just popped them back on for the pic until I clean up a better set.  Honest.

That's not them all

I find Ragu pasta sauce jars are a good way to store them :)   One day I'll have enough to make something out of them, like some do with lolly sticks  :ahhh  OK maybe not ;)

Just for Neil here is a new pic of the knife with its re-vamped scales.  This is a nice old solid Eco scale that hasn't got a slot for the tweezers.  Tweezers are the one tool I almost never use so I don't feel the loss.  Before anyone says anything, yes this is also a second hand scale but this one has character (rather than the one in the first pic with was just $%&&£ed).  ;)

That's better  :tu:, it goes well with the old style corkscrew.  Just hope those scissors have a screw  :pok:

:-[  Errrm.....In my defence the only older scissors I have are just a bit too knackered for me to put the time into, and I had plenty rivited ones to pick from.  :P ;)::)

Not you as well ;)  I've already got LM123  :pok: me for scales.  You're both in the US, see Tom already :P  He's a nice guy!

Seriously though, I doubt I have any 84mm blue ones but I will have a rummage  :tu:

You can get translucent pink (Vic. call it Rose) in 84mm but I don't think they do it with the cut out on the back for a corkscrew :(

Your best bet would be to have a set made up.  That said, I'm not sure if you can get G-10 in pink

What about this   pink ivory  I know Tom has them in his store as rough cut for 91mm but I'm sure he'd do an 84mm.
