Angry Bird

(Image removed from quote.)

That is rather funny.

Whats wrong with this logo?
It looks more like the batman signal than the Leatherman Signal.

the Spanish representative of LM just said in the last video that the logo change focuses more on the "Multiuse" aspect of the company' products, implying that it resembles a pliers based tool with the pivot, nut or bolt in the center  :dunno:

They don’t need a new logo, they need new smurfing tools!

Its one thing to take the MT in a new direction but a logo to me is an identifier of a company.   I really wonder why the desire to switch it now?  I read what TP wrote and for me the MT has always represented a mutiuse tool?

So long as they work on their QC and send out quality products I'm happy.

I don't see how the logo has anything to do with multitools, knives, engineering, outdoors, or anything you'd associate with Leatherman.

You don't see the multitool in the logo?  :pok:

To me the logo suits the LEATHERMAN font and they look good together.

I would take any salesman's explanation with a grain on salt.

Not really. Since I know I'm looking at a Leatherman logo, I make out the shape of multitool. If I walked by this 2 months ago, no part of me would say Leatherman or multitool.

I only buy 1st aid kits that get the logo right... Seriously, 99% has either the Swiss Flag or the Red Cross instead of the 1st aid symbol.

The Victorinox logo is an icon. Most people saw the Victorinox logo at the same time as the product so they are synonymous with each other. They also take pride in being Swiss made and it's a symbol of the Swiss.

The other two logos are not very good in my opinion, either as an example of graphic design or being iconic, they're not anything special.

I guess Leatherman are hoping their new logo will fare the same.

I think using the "L" is a good idea, you know it is a name beginning with L. It's like a Toyota "T" or a Honda "H".
The old logo could have been anyone's.

Dear God, that's hideous.
But why would anyone want to change a logo that's recognisable around the globe ??
Unless ofcourse it's really a identifier for  items that are to be outsourced for manufacture...well you never know.

Anyway, good news for all of us, our LM's will soon be identified as "Original Leathermans"  :D

Oh smugness indeed!!

Good news is, if it turns out to be part of the production tools:
The new tools have USA stamped on the pliers. A significant majority of parts and production has to be done in-house to qualify under new regulations for USA marking.
