I did not know the Leatherman bit kit and extender worked with the Crater series. That makes it shine more in my book  :tu:

I don't know if it was intended to work with the Crater Phillips, but it does.

I've never used anything from Facom. Some people I know swear by them, others think they're expensive and overhyped.

I think I need a crescent wrench and some locking pliers though.

I still don't know why these companies don't try making a multitool. Maybe there's not enough money in it or they don't consider it worthy of their time.

I'm really tempted to snag one of those Knipex Plier Wrenches. It looks like it go well with my Crater.

It also works with several other square Phillips drivers.

I've thought about using a LM tool in place of the prybaby and crescent.

Before someone asks....

It also works with the Juice series, Gerber MP400/600 series, and many other off brands with square shank phillips drivers.

The bit driver for the Blast, Rebar etc. will also work good on the inline philips of a sak too!  Very handy!

Wait, you mean a SAK Spirit or Swisstool. I was picturing a knife with it connected.

No, he means the inline driver on an Explorer or Yeoman.  It works very well actually.

I don't know that driver. I see it now. Looks the same as the Spirit driver.

Yes, those ones and the Swisschamp, Spartan Lite, etc., any of them with an inline philips.  I haven't check it on a Spirit or Swisstool but can't imagine it not working on them too!

Looks like the newer LM Pockettool Piranha 2 and #4 have a spot for a LM bits that will fit a bit driver extender.  That means I can carry LM bits and use one of those for a wrench in place of the crescent or the bit driver plus square-shank knife Phillips.  Great to have another option!

Me too.  In fact, I ordered a Pliers Wrench and a Cobra today.  Not cheap, but they should last forever.

I wish Leatherman made a basic bit driver for their bits.  I guess any bit driver will work with the bit driver extender.

Tom, do you ever require the use of a wire cutter?

When I belt carry a Cobra pliers and Leatherman pre-Crater knife/driver instead of a pliers multitool, I have no good way to cut wire.  If I add a diagonal cutters to the mix, the load of tools becomes uncomfortable for belt or pocket carry.

I daydreamed about a small set of hinged wire cutting blades that would fit inside the Cobra pliers' jaws and could be compressed to cut wire.  But, there's no such animal.

I actually don't except when I need to change guitar strings, and I carry a wire cutter in my guitar case. I guess I'd just bent the wire back and forth to break it.

Maybe a really small quality cutter would do.

I can cut smaller gauge wire using my finger nail clippers.   I can squeeze the clipper blades together using the Cobra pliers to get more leverage.

I went looking for detachable wire cutter jaws or a folding wire cutter, but I didn't come up with anything.

Would a pair of electrician scissors work to cover wire cutting needs?

I have considered going with the Crater +  bit kit/plier wrench carry combo but I think I would miss wire cutters also.
