Swapping custom scales
on: June 21, 2019, 07:16:23 PM
Is it difficult to affix custom scales from say... swissbianco? Also, are there any other scale makers? I'm looking for plus scales for a swisschamp & huntsman lite.

The SwissBianco G-10 scales are pretty easy. Pry off the old cellidor scales. Press the new scales into place. Push down hard on the knife, with a new scale on the bottom, against something like a wooden table. The scale will just snap right in with firm pressure.

Don't be stupid and try to use a vice to snap the scales into place. You'll just muck up the scales. I know from experience.

I don’t know. I’ve only done the G-10.

There are several G10 and Titanium scales available now in various colors.

http://www.swissbianco.com/products/sak/accessories.html

He makes scales in batches so you can either wait a few weeks/months for the next release if you don't like the look of what is available or check ebay for some different colors/designs.

I use Gorilla Glue or 2 part epoxy to secure my titanium scales after test fitting them dry. You may need to file the rivets down slightly to get a good fit. I secure them in a wood vice overnight to be sure they set properly.

SB's video on how to do this:

Note that this is forever and you really don't need much epoxy to get them to stick in place.
