ParaShears?
on: June 23, 2019, 06:50:28 PM
SOG have announced (and now displayed) their interpretation of the LM Raptor, the ParaShears. Anybody seen this yet? I guess as a 2020 release. Looks like a BO version for the tacticool crowd, and a silver/orange to appeal to the first responder types. I wonder if these will be as garbage as most of the recent offerings from SOG?

It looks like a pain in the arse to decontaminate. The Raptor is as well; and I swear, 1 out of 3 EMTs/Paramedics seems to own a pair these days. I see them clipped to a lot of their pants, both locally, and on a number of TV shows. Cheap trauma shears for the win, in my opinion.

Seems like it's got a LOT of stuff on it. Phillips and flat drivers; serrated blade, bottle opener, and awl on top of the blade and belt cutter. Great for some of the stuff I do around the farm, but way too many crevices for blood and other contaminants to get into for it to be a first responder tool. I can see the compound leverage making it a bit better for cutting stuff like small tree limbs, vines, package strapping, and the like.

Can't fault them for trying for a bit of the market.

It's hard to tell, but it seems possibly the wide handle splay due tot he compound leverage somewhat defeats the purpose of the angled design of trauma shears....

SOG has been showing these off for over a year. Are they available yet?
