Which SOG?
on: December 23, 2019, 06:49:48 PM
So, I'm a long-time Gerber user. I have several modded MP600s and a Center Drive.

I dipped my toes into the Leatherman world with an ES4, and liked that a lot, so dabbled again with the $60 Wingman. But unfortunately I am extremely disappointed in the poor quality pliers.

Instead of the leatherman route, which seems madly overpriced for the quality returned, I'm thinking of maybe trying SOG. I do have some experience with them. I have both the Sync I and Sync II, and like them... but have issues with why they didn't make the drivers on the Sync II lock, but did make the file and scissors lock... derp!  I also have an original ToolClip, which I broke, and a modern mini toolclip which I like. And one vintage micro toolclip as well, actually.

What's a good full-sized SOG multitool to bring into the fold? Something heavy duty? With a file? Also I do prefer a bladeless, but that's not actually completely necessary.

Thoughts?

Charles.

The powerlock is a heavy duty SOG, I like mine which is a new one and the general consensus on Mto is that the old ones are better :tu:

I'll be getting a new one, so that's got to factor into it.

Also strangely I kinda like the Power Pint. If it had a saw instead of the stupid serrated blade, it'd be almost perfect. Well, if the pliers are decently strong with the Power Assist feature, at least.

The new Powerlock doesn't have the best file I've tried on a MT but it does work, on mine At least. Some members here has had issues with it though.
