Time to rest a while
on: February 02, 2020, 01:34:31 AM
I started a whole new career after getting canned from an AV installation team about 18 months ago. Was an AV project manager responsible for major projects at schools, churches, hospitals and gyms. My work ethic was impeccable but cuss 1 salesperson and they let you go.  ::) ::) :D :D

Now I'm a project manager at an agriculture company managing the use of herbicides and fertilizers on commercial applications. Not a whole lot of AV install work around East Texas but tons of vegetation to be managed. I've had constant testing to move up the ranks here. Kinda why I've been a ghost around here for a while. I've gone thru and got my commercial drivers license Class A with all endorsements, Texas herbicide license, right of way , aquatic, landscape, turf, and structural certifications. All this on my free time while working in the field. Nights, weekends...study , study.

You wouldn't believe the math equations, plant identifications, soil composition analysis, and all the laws related to chemicals.  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Finished and passed my last two certification tests today. Lots of math on the tests using formulas for pressure, area, volume, balancing chemicals. My brain is fried.

Now it's time to just relax and pass the time on my favorite forum.

Getting a Class A CDL with no formal "trucking "school training on your own was rough. The CDL testers seem to hate the fact i was using just the handbook to pass their testing and inspections. I'm not driving a tractor trailer big rig, I'm driving Dodge 5500's with a 40' gooseneck or pinnel hook trailer. Sometimes a 3000 gallon tanker with hazardous chemicals.

The whole CDL process was pure red tape BS.  If the tester was having a bad day you are going to fail. I can't confirm but I hear they have a quota of fails they have to do. I failed a pretrip due to a post it note ( blank ) on the passenger dash. She claimed i was cheating.

Getting a Texas Aquatic licence was kind of right up my alley. Fish identification, water chemistry, and invasive species ( both plant and fish ).   ::)

thank you

I have a binder to keep all my cdl documents and  my original licences in.  I go to Texas A&M every year to attend seminars to get my 5 credits to ensure license continuation.
CDL medical every 18 months, Hazmat every ?  gotta look into that one.

not that I don't trust HR with my documents , they get only copies. I keep my records portable on me like in the military.

Congrats mate .

I just made a huge career switch myself, going from working in a hospital for 15 years to working in a brewery, just finished my first week and there's a lot of new stuff to learn ...  :ahhh
It's very scary and exciting at the same time, but I do hope the scary part goes away as soon as possible to be honest  ;).

Good luck with the new job  :salute:.

Great thing about this new job is knives. Everyone is encouraged to carry knives. Most carry Case , but I'm persuading a few to look into multitools.  :multi:
