Mr Pinchy got my son today!
on: February 09, 2020, 02:10:45 PM
Got a new camping hammer. Came with a tent peg puller. My 12yo offered to twist off the cable ties that held them together and I was just waiting for the inevitable. Got him a nice shot...now he knows why it’s called Mr Pinchy.

Ouch! Did you warn him upfront?  :pok: Or was it more like „I want the Mr. Pinchy badge, but someone else can take the pinch....Hey son, wanna help me?”

Was a case of “...don’t let it slip or the handles will pinch you...” and then it happened. Just a little nip. He actually could see the humor in the situation.

I do not own one of these, but own several varieties of the MP600, which I believe this is an early version of. My question is, why do all of you use that thing???  :dunno:  ;)

And I personally prefer the original MultiPlier to the later MP-600. Smaller and smoother and much better for pocket carry. It only bites if you are not careful.

  "told you so ..."
Have you applied for "The badge" for him yet?  :D

All kidding aside, glad it was "just a nip", and that he could find the humor in the situation.  :tu:

Some days, I wonder, if Granddad had a Mr. Pinchy in his tractor's toolbox instead of that 1990s Irish-made Imperial Apex multitool, I kinda wonder if I would have sworn multitools off forever. The Imperial (which I was given when I came across it on the tractor) never pinched, but its inadequacy (horrid steel, drivers that slipped; plus bent small screwdriver and electrical damage) resulted in my getting into the wonderful world of decent multitools (well, and some cheapos).

The Mr. Pinchy is still one of my favorite tools. Not a Mack Truck in your pants, but still, a decent compact tool with robust pliers to get it all done. Only thing it can't do is heavy steel wire (one, pinching, two it damages the cutters). I think the tool pinching is Gerber's way of saying "Don't Do That!".

Ouch. That looks familiar.  I still like my Mr. Pinchy too. I carried it for years in the early 1990's before I got into multi tools and bought a variety of others. I still carry it on occasion for sentimental reasons.
