84mm Scissors Question
on: June 02, 2020, 03:11:05 AM
I am thinking about building my own 84mm with scissors using a Cadet or a Bantam, since I already have a spare pair of 84mm scissors (sent back with repaired 84mm Craftsman). But, the scissors have a crude repair (missing screw replaced with brass pin--and I'm betting that crude repair resulted in stripped screw threads, so they might be unfixable; thus why Victorinox replaced them entirely on my Craftsman) and the spring is missing as well.  And, obviously, I don't have a backspring.

What can these scissors ride on, since I don't have an 84mm scissors spring? Taking apart an 84mm with scissors in it already is far out of the question.

You can use a blade spring and make a perch for the other end from the tang of a scrap blade.
Have a look on the sticky tutorial thread at the "Wenger scissors and saw into 84mm" thread to see how it's done.

+1 on what they said... I’ve done it the way Syph did... with a little modification to the process... That way I only sacrificed 1 scissor spring...
