Super blade SAKs from triangle_tools
on: November 24, 2020, 03:34:25 PM
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to share my newest custom SAKs, will be happy to receive your feedbacks!
This forum was really helpful for me when I have started to do mods - from pivot sizes and ways how to disassemble knife - all that information I've got here.
My idea is to make knives with replaced blades - powdered steel is something that I wanted to have in all my Swiss knives for a long time.
First one is Alox Pioneer with custom made Elmax blade (60 HRC), blackwashed instruments, copper liner (0.5mm), copper textured scales and brass microwashers.
P.S. Needed to remove reamer to avoid friction with blade

I'm also a big fan of old school knives so next custom is with clip point blade and brass scales and liner.
This time is RWL 34 blade with 62 HRC 8)

Thank you! Yes, thats solid brass/ copper that done by laser cutting machine, after that I'm adding texture and patina - still big amount of hand work.
Also sending a process of creating, probably could be interesting.
P.S. 111mm knife without custom blade, but there are some plans about it :D

Unfortunately no parts for sale yet, just full knife. I have a plan to sell sets for customization - scales, pivots and screws and blade optionally, but probably that will happens when I will get a CNC milling machine.

Hello everybody!
Small update regarding custom super steel Victorinox:

- Reamer is deleted!
- Custom made RWL 34 blade, heat treatment with Cryo, 62 HRC;
- Stainless steel pivots and screws;
- Handmade copper textured scales;
- Bronze washers for smooth blade motion;
- Copper polished liner;
- Razor sharp!

This time I decided not to use sandpaper after adding patina to scales so they are more dark than usual. Anyway, copper color will appear after some time carrying in pocket.
Please let me know what do you think about this build

Hello everyone!
I'm happy to share with you new customs of 93mm Solo knives.
First of all they have 20CV powdered steel blades, probably thats a biggest advantage of this knives 8). Custom heat treatment with cryo + careful mirror sharpening - its something ;)
Another cool thing is a way of hiding a pivots. Yes, I decided to use brass pivots for this project and to "mask" them by a texture of the scales, looks interesting, and what do you think? And sure, all texturing is fully handmade.
Spring and blade are acid washed, scales - brass and copper without any patina, it will be added by a fingers of new owner :D
For all knives I use bronze micro-washers for smooth opening and closing.
Please leave your comments about this knives below

Happy New Year guys!
I've made two interesting Pioneers with standard instruments (includes blade).
Tried to make deep patina on it, interesting results I think, and whats your opinion?
Brass version:

Both are fantastic, copper patina is hard to beat though. Think it edges out the brass slightly.

Titanium have advantage in weight, but brass/copper/bronze can live its own life and thats exciting as for me :)

Hi! Some new Solo knives have been made in 20CV and with brass/copper scales.
Also few words about a sharpening - it does not have any relation to sharpening done in belt grinders as 99% of factory made knives. Its all about a custom sharpening with high quality abrasives (includes natural) which provides opens all benefits of powdered steel.

No, thats the only original part from Solo 93mm. I want to start making my own springs - that will open next level to modding 8)
