LM Signl Mods
on: December 01, 2020, 03:29:50 PM
I've had my Rebar  :multi: for about 7 months now. I just got my Signal in the mail and was wondering about a few things: 1. Can I replace the Signal pliers with Rebar ones? 2. Can I swap the saw blade with the adapter from a Surge? 3. Could I manage to slide in a Rev file?  ??? I've honestly never modded a Leatherman before but I really want to make the Signal my "perfect tool"
My Collection: Rebar, Rev, Signal, Swisschamp, EvoS557, SOG PowerAccess :multi:
I ask a lot of questions ???

The Rebar and Signal plier head is the same I believe  not sure there is room without modifying the frame by grinding or cutting on it to fit the Surge adapter  the Rev file could go in somewhere but not sure where :dunno: I would do some searching in here on the Signal and there are some mods that have been done to it and some of them will probably help you out :salute: good luck with the modding :tu:

G'Day,

1: Same pliers between Rebar and Signal, no need to replace them
2: Not a drop-in swap. The Surge adaptor is bigger and will need some modification to the frame to make it fit. AFAIK it has not been done here on MT.O
3. You can replace the Saw with a file from the Wave. That is a direct drop-in without any modification. I have done it to my "Urban Signal" It is a great swap. I don't own a Rev, so I cannot comment on it's file suitability. I include some pics of the file mod I did.

Cheers, Pete

I like the mod! I think I'll try that first, then wait for a used Signal to pop up on EvilBay >:D. If I can get the Surge adapter to fit I'll post pics.

You can get Leatherman parts from inmate Loki_mobile. He has most parts available. I bought a Surge adaptor set from him to add to a MUT, but it did not work in that one either without modifying the chassis.

The surge exchanger CAN be put into the saw slot without modifying the frame, I've seen it on the Leatherman Mod group on facebook.

You can but the t shank blades tend to be a little long. It works as long as you don’t mind modifying the blades or finding some short enough to work.

I did not know this. I am going to have a play over the holidays and see how to get it done. Write-up to follow.

Cheers, Pete
