For those whose jobs are tool dependent a MT could be a quick solution to a simple issue that always seems to pop up when the dedicated tools are out of reach or put away. I am not walking back to my truck IF I can attempt to solve the issue then and there. If not, I wont force the fix, I'll go get the right tool.
I have a small tool box in the hall closet that is my go to when basic hand tools will be needed. I have a larger assortment of tools in the garage including some power tools just in case. I know my limits when it comes to what I can fix and will fix. Last year I think my daughter and I replaced our ignitor on the stove. We did use a range of tools from the little tool box and garage tools. We also changed out the motor on our washing machine using dedicated tools from both small tool box and garage tools.
When the fella came to change our water heater he brought his dedicated tool and set them near his work. Thats same with most trades. Thing is, not all trades set up in a stationary spot to do their work. Not all tool boxes laden with tools are easily carried. A MT on the hip can complete a task quick and easy. Will it replace our dedicated tools? For some, maybe. For others, not a chance.
There is no one way. A MT is a good option for those who like the compliment of tools and aren't carrying a bunch of dedicated tools. I was up in a high-rise apartment several years ago. The fella had just had his wine fridge installed. He realized they forgot to attach the door handle
