Swine is being awl fully nice. Pub tap takeover sounds like a good time though.

Yeah, I figured the swearing filter would take the sting out of what I really wanted to put...

It was a great night, though.

I'm assuming you knew that the cork screw pivots beyond vertical so you can get the cork started by mechanical leverage by pressing the body of the knife against the side of the mouth of the bottle while lifting against the other side of the knife. If you still can't get the cork out it's time to use a purpose built tool or try something drastic.
I tried that, to no avail. A purpose-built corkscrew also failed. Seems drastic measures will be necessary.

Y'awl have been posting up some great photos! Here's mine for...

Day 29

For the penultimate day of the challenge, here's the only Wenger I currently own (and one of two I've owned, ever...I'll add more eventually, I'm sure). This is the Watchmaker. It's shown with the only watch I currently own, which has a screw-in back!

Day 29

The delights of a pub tap takeover...

(Image removed from quote.)

Just a pity some swine walked out of the pub with my coat before the end of the night. Means I'm also down a set of Bluetooth earphones, a portable charger and my work badge. ::)

Sorry to hear that mate.  :(

Day 29:
Had to cut a dead branch off my tree today.
The Evolution S17 wood saw got the job done with ease, I'm impressed!

On a youtube SAK review, they said the little saw on the medium sized SAKs are only good for notching and cutting small branch of less than an inch diameter.
That is untrue.  Theoretically if you can attack the branch from all sides (like cutting a watermelon), you should be able to cut a branch with diameter of twice the length of the wood saw blade.
For my S17, that would be (2 X 2.5 inch) up to 5 inches in diameter.
The branch I cut today was slightly less than 2.5 inches, but I should be able to cut something twice that diameter.

While the short Wenger saw might not be my first choice for cutting bigger branches there should be no doubt it's capable of doing it.  :tu:

Day 28: Cutting open a box of Halloween cereal with the PTC.  Just like the Classic and the Executive, the blade sees most of the use followed by the scissors.  I've grown to like this knife so much it may just replace the Classic on my Keychain!  The scissors aren't quite as good for certain uses, but they're strong.  I wish the back springs were tighter, but I can live with that.  I keep hoping Vic will come back with a new version, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I'm really pleased with it, seems very well made and a heavy beast....if open it up maybe they've added a brick inside!
Can't always be sure with Kickstarter projects but this is exactly as advertised....FYI

Wow, the black one looks just as cool! :like:

Day 28: one of the displays I've started putting together--these are mostly knives relating to the mining industry and some of my Granddad's old gear from his time underground in the mines, as well as some stuff him and I picked up later.

That's a really cool display! :tu:

:like:  Nice hawkbills. I have one that looks quite similar to the one up front.
Ich mag Dunkelbier!

On that note...Day 28

Tried to get the cork out again. Failed again. The little smurf is stuck in there good. Is it any wonder I prefer beer and whiskey?
Embarrassingly, that happened to me many times, I don't know maybe I waited too long to drink the wine so the cork expanded too much, or what, but sometimes they just broke in pieces and I just have to hammer it into bottle and use a filter to hold up the wood flakes.

Day 28/30

Awlways here: The mask.
I never would have thought that would become an EDC regular.

That's good display of skill.  Depending you want to have an even end or not, if the whole purpose is just to break up the long pieces of wood, it could even handle up to calves size wood with a little blunt force. :tu:

Had coffee with friends this afternoon, and Evo makes a find company.  Pretty interesting coffee house, they served sweet dried blueberry with coffee with no sugar.

That is untrue.
The saw on my Evo 23 was going through 2x4 just fine. Who, exactly, comes up with these untruths? Reminds me of one video I was watching in which the presenter said "don't buy a Wenger; they're junk" or words to that effect...

Upon hearing that statement, I stopped watching immediately.

For my final day I’d like to share most of my Delemont collection with you.
Stunning collection! My day 30 photo will almost certainly pale in comparison.

Well, this was fun.
I like Wenger. The claw can opener, the pack-lock flathead, the blades, the compactness. There are things I do not like, like the scissors serrated edges, or the movement of the pliers and scissors jaws.

Still, it did quite well. I enjoyed carrying my Wenger Tradesman, as well as seeing everyone's pictures every day.

Day 30
October 30

Not much going on this Saturday. Kids just got vaccinated with their 1st dose for covid yesterday so we’re keeping things pretty loose and relaxed today.

After 30 days of having a Wenger as a primary, a few notes come to mind:
1. Torx bits. They’re not the most common tools found in a SAK tool. These days there’s a good number of tool and toys which use torx or hex so unless it’s a cybertoon, a Vic is in a disadvantage.

2. Scissors. As long as they can cut, it’s good. As long as it doesn’t break of mis-fire on the springs, it’s good.

3. I like the blade profile of the Wenger Tool Chest Plus. There’s a belly on the edge that helps with the cut.

4. I like the slip-joint plier heads. I haven’t used it on nuts and bolts or cutting wires but I prefer slip joints for their flexibility.  Although I have serious concerns if the SAK can handle a nut or bolt on the max size of the slip joint.

5. The tweezers were a new revelation. I found them useful on holding washers while swapping them out.

6. Size matters.  The Tool Chest is too big for comfortable pocket carry.

I agree with some of the posts here that said that Wenger or Delemont line should have been kept as the ‘prototype arm’ of Victorinox to test out new implements or combinations.
