First time posting on this forum so cut me some slack fellas
Got a Leatherman Skeletool Topo off Heinnie last week to replace my slipjoint knife for EDC. Living in England of course the locking blade made it less than legal to carry so I've remedied the situation:
Bit of a dirty mod but very happy with the results. Basically I just took a dremel to the locking tab and cut it so that the blade no longer locks open but still applies spring pressure to the blade when it is closed, making it still safe to keep closed. This by itself would leave the blade floppy and loose when open so I stacked a spring washer between the existing copper washer and the blade. This skeletool is now a UK legal friction folder
I'd seen some discussion on modding this style of leatherman for the UK and EU but most involve removing the blade, using washers to block the locking tab (not necessarily a permanent modification and therefore not legal under some interpretations), or using a torch to soften and bend the locking tab. I think I've done a pretty decent bodge job, what do you guys think?
