2 folding knives in Veronica Mars

I was watching the show Veronica Mars.  (it's pretty good)

Towards the end of the first season, S1E20 M.A.D.  Kristen Bell's car has stopped working in the school parking lot and she has to borrow a folding knife that her friend is using to cut an apple.  She uses it to cut a clean end off of a hose before re-attaching it and starting her car.  The knife looks like a fairly average folder.  liner lock, steel bolsters or maybe steel frame, thumb stud, pocket clip in tip down position.  Not sure if anyone recognizes it, but it doesn't look like anything too special. 

Ironically, at the end of the episode, there is a guy taped naked to a flag pole and she offers to cut him down in exchange for information.  She pulls out a small ~2 inch automatic knife with a black handle.  Not sure why she needed her friends knife in the beginning since she clearly carries her own blade.

Did you manage to get a pic of the auto?

I really liked that show when it came out but honestly never watched it since.

For the first one, I was also thinking random gas station knife.
