Old and new Swiss Champs
on: March 18, 2021, 09:31:16 PM
This is a second rebuild my faithful old Swiss Champ. I replaced the snapped main blade initially but didn’t know at the time that these older knives had a 2.4mm width blade. So when I got a 2.4 in some mod fodder recently I decided to take it apart properly and rebuild. Liners were still pretty good after 35 odd years. I used the fish scaler as a ruler in my ‘Draughtsman’ mod and rebuilt it without that tool. It’s still only the width if a liner less than a modern Champ without that layer. No hook on the back of the scissors, fluted corkscrew but it has the eye in the awl - probably dates it quite accurately?

There is literally no comparison between the two tone mag and the cheap looking new one in my book.

Also look at the full liner next to the metal file...never noticed that before.

Love this old thing.  :salute:
