Pine smell when polishing scales

I just got a Victorinox Champion B.  While polishing the scales, there was a distinct pine-like smell.  I had not encountered that before.  Has anyone else?


I was polishing with micro mesh sandpaper and the knife had already been cleaned with a non-piney cleaner.
