Can I swap a scissors for the main blade in a VSAK Electrician?

I really like the small sheepsfoot blade in the VSAK electrician, and have little use for the full size blade. Is it possible to swap out the main blade for a scissors relatively easily? I'd like to make a slim Electrician-X if possible.

My thought was to start with an Old Cross Electrician and just swap the large blade for a scissors, leaving everything else "as is".

I'm no expert, but scissors have their own spring. I never heard of anyone replacing a large blade with scissors. I think even the width and length of the scissors would conflict with the small blade/awl/combo tool.

Hi Ike,

I don’t think it’s possible to only remove the main blade, to replace it with scissors.

I think the awl would have to go too as pfrsantos mentions.

Though, you could just add scissors like the lovely Brasswerx custom Electrician X. (See below)

The closest I’ve seen on this forum is this Pioneer X mod:

You’d just need to replace the can opener, with the Electrician’s blade.

Andy, that's very helpful, thanks. Given that the can opener is for me the least used tool, swapping it out for an E-blade is a very attractive mod option for me. Now I've got to figure out how to do it!

Yeah, unfortunately that’s where I fall down too.

I’ve never found out how other people do all these wonderful mods so well?

My one and only attempt has gone unfinished. And I don’t even know who to ask to commission a custom SAK for me?

Great knife blue titanium OC scales, it is a perfect knife, carries well with a lock blade.

Brunner in Switzerland does amazing work too but uses Cerakoted alox scales instead of Ti.

In fact, Elsener himself has a few of his mods in his private collection.
