Wave+ Adding Package Opener and Removing Hidden Lanyard Loop

I'd really like to have a package opener on my Wave+, but in all the searches I've done I'm coming up short on whether or not it's possible. The alternative is buying a Wingman and having a third multi-tool added to the arsenal I guess, but I'd really like it on my Wave.

Along those lines, I'd like to do the 'tweezer mod' but plan on installing the pocket clip which (from what I've read) means that I will need to remove the hidden lanyard loop, unless you all have other methods I haven't read about yet.

Thanks for any advice, links, etc. :drink:

Welcome to :MTO:

You can always sharpen the can opener tip and use it as a package opener :salute: I have done this to a few and it works just as well as a dedicated package opener plus it is a really easy mod and only alters the tool a bit  :tu: :woohoo:

Answering your question though, the package opener can definitely go into a Wave and we have a few here that have done this mod :salute:

Of your planning to use Wingman packet opener you need to slim it down lottle since wave wont close fully, as you can see in pics it  has taller nick nail profile. Also if you want to keep pocket clip and need to do tweezer mod you need to remove that hidden lanyard or put tweezer under outside tools ( its pretty annoying to get tweezers out )

Thanks all - it was really helpful to see one in action so to speak, never even thought about the height of it being a factor. For now, I'll pass on the idea and look for some videos/posts on removing the built-in lanyard ring to determine if it's something I feel like pursuing or not.

Really appreciate the great community here.

Removing the hidden lanyard isn't hard but either requires taking the tool apart to get it or just cutting it out without taking it apart (this choice of course isn't reversible like taking the tool apart to get it out  )

Would cutting it off cause any looseness once removed?

I am thinking that the part it slides on is what holds everything together :salute: been a while since I have taken a Wave or a Charge apart

I usually just sharpen the can opener

It will not, as it slides over the "nut"/"female" part of the pivot;  when removed, it will be just like the end where the pocket clip/lanyard ring attachment goes. Good luck mod'ing, and post pictures when done!
