Day 29

Our dining room chairs are possessed by an angry spirit that likes to unscrew the leg bolts.  I had just tightened them about a month ago, and they're already wobbly.  This time I tightened the end that screws into the wood, then I made sure the washer and bolt were tight.  Hopefully that will slow down the angry chair spirits.

We do have a Challenge for both the Supertool and the Swisstool :tu:

I have a Swisstool that I never use because I have so many better tools.  I need to watch for the next Swisstool challenge to force me to use it.   :tu:

The Rebar on a piece of rebar:

Day 30 of 30

Finishing the challenge out with the Coyote Tan Rebar  :woohoo: :woohoo:

Not surprising, the Rebar handle itself like a champ for me and modded or not was a very capable tool for me :salute: I always love the plier head on these as it has a nice beefy look to them and has never seemed like it would break to me, that, along with a very nice toolset keeps the Rebar a top tool to me :tu: I have tomorrow to carry what I want and then off to the Toolbox Challenge  :ahhh then when that is finished we have the Fantabulous February Minitool Challenge  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Busy times ahead :salute: Congrats on finishing, Paul and so close for the rest of you 8) :like: :like:

Day 30 - This month and challenge has gone scary fast! I think it's pretty safe to compare the rebar again victorinox spirit x, they have somethings making them close but some other things that makes the difference bigger. Obviously the outside/inside opening if tools but one other thing is the scissors. Modding my rebar with a scissor was a game changer and I used it more then I thought, my bit kit works with them both but works better with my rebar

I carry it on a custom sheath right over my right front pocket slightly tilted to not get in the way but still have good access. Carrying the rebar and the bit kit makes for a perfect companion and can deal with most everyday tasks, especially now with the scissors, why they don't but it in there are a mystery for me.

The only things I can say that are negative are the shape of the awl (I prefer the victorinox 93mm inline) and sometimes I wish it had an outside opening blade other than that I really like this tool and have once again thank sos24 for a generous GAW

I haven't been taking action shots everyday but from trimming my mustache to changing power outlets it just works

Here are some of the jobs it preformed today before noon and it was no trip to the garage needed

Cleaning/freeing the vacuum brush

Making a lanyard for new classic sd

The toodler now reach the highest door handle and had to change the orientation so it goes up

Thanks to the bitkit, the bits I use the most in another custom sheath

To here you have it, the small kit that saves the day nomatter if it is lazy day at home or helping a friend move

Thanks everyone for making this a fun challenge and lots of nice pics!

Lovely way to end the year

Day 30 (EoC)

Last day/ last pictures (probably but, we don't know how the day goes by) of "the challengers". To think that thirty days have gone by, and they validated my thoughts on this tool:
+ compact
+rugged
+tough
+light
+versatile
+practical
+ease of carry
+all locking tools
+variety of finishes
+classic, timeless look
+modularity; can share parts/tools with many other Leatherman tools, making it a great model to modify according to its owner's needs.
The pliers are excellent, as it is the Phillips for reach; the capability to accept bit drivers expands its utility, and has performed admirably well with Gerber's, generic ones and, of course, the Leatherman's.

On the "flip side of the coin" I have comments, but none that hinder the tools performance:
- Difficult to find a specific tool quickly (unless the lanyard ring's out, the side where the PE blade is).
-Handles are not as rigid as in the PST II or ST300, allowing for more side to side movement.
-Cannot install a clip without obstructing aesthetics (name brand and/or ruler; since it has somewhat "bulging" sides, the clip sits at an angle).
- Finish. Although the cerakoted CT looks stunning, compared to the BO treatment is less durable.
-QC. My Knifeless have a rattling lock bar from factory, but the other three has no rattles at all; one came with somewhat floppy tools, and another with somewhat stiffer pliers ( but NEVER close to what some Surge/Free owners described; it was tolerable in mine).
-Not easy to disassemble (unless you buy/make tools for it, then its incredibly easy).

I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite EDC tool  from Leatherman, from its practicality to its ease of carry; from its functionality to its looks. All in all, a great (if not the best) value-per-dollar tool from Leatherman!
A shoutout to Adam, the mods, and to all the participants of the challenge; thank you for making it so enjoyable and fun. Happy New Year to everyone @ MT.o!!!

 :iagree:
Thank you for reminding me another "not so good" (and also with the Wave, Rev, Super Tool); this is definitevely its biggest downfall with me, as I need at least two tries and keep the handles separate to open a bottle.  Maybe I need to practice more but...

Day 30

Here’s my 30-day review of the Rebar.

First, it is difficult to give high praise to a multitool without a one-hand opening blade, and to a lesser extent, one with no pocket clip. As you can tell by my daily reports, I use my multitool blade a lot, so having to open the Rebar, pull out the blade, then close it was a pain, especially on days that I used the blade frequently.  That said, I did exactly that for over 20 years with my Gerber Multipliers, so I got used to it quickly.

Overall, I found the Rebar to be very functional, durable, and comfortable to carry in my pocket.  The Rebar’s toolset is just about perfect – the only tool I would change is upgrading to file to a diamond file.  I liked my makeshift magnetic suspension clip, but if I was going to use the Rebar long term, I would come up with something better.  Compared to other multitools without one-hand opening blades, I think the Rebar is the best of the lot. Yes, better than the PST and better than the Swisstool.   :ahhh

So, in spite of not having a OHO blade and no pocket clip, I still give the Rebar high praise.  That said, I likely wont use it again until the next Rebar challenge.  :-[  Until then, Mr. Rebar…

Thank you to Adam for hosting the challenge, and thanks to all of the participants who posted so many great pics.  I especially liked seeing the Rebar mods, the action pics, and the traditional folding knife companions.

                                 Day 30

So this concludes my first MTO forum challenge. Found the forum at the beginning of the year while searching for info about my next multitool. Already had my eye on the Rebar and after stumbling across the "Rebar owners club" tread here I was sold. So almost an year and 6 leathermans later - here I am, not feeling comfortable getting out of the room without an multitool of some sort   :D
In the past 30 days the Rebar did not disappoint me at all. In fact - quite the opposite, at few spots I was pleasantly surprised at the ease it took to the task. Did not miss the one hand opening blade as much as I thought I would, but I also didn't go fishing or hiking this month and spend most of my time in the workshop around hundreds of tools and knives so.... Only once I really needed a knife and had only one hand free. It wasn't anything urgent  so I managed to get the serrated blade out, slow and steady. In some jeans I carried it in the watch pocket (I do tend to be drawn to models with a bit larger watch pocket so my toys can fit better ), otherwise it was on the belt in the black leather sheath it came with. Few times it rode at a vest pocket and few others - in a nylon sheath the Crunch came in with.
To summarize - awesome tool, great capabilities in compact and easy to carry package. Did not feel under equipped at all.
The hard part for me during this challenge came from not getting to play with my other toys. And sometimes I really did not feel like taking pictures, not knowing what to shoot and being too tired at the evening to upload it. Other times I got inspiration during the day and made a great photo that even gave me joy during the shoot.
So, for the last day here is an action shot. Well, an at home dramatization shot. Went to a big box store today to get one more oil heater. The lady that was working at that section took the one I choose out of the warehouse and needed to open the box to take the warranty papers out. The box was stitched with those industrial copper staples. She started some kind of uneven battle with those, bare handed. I watched for few seconds, noticed a band aid on her finger and told her to stop because that seems to be a great way to get more band aids. Took out the Rebar and pried the staples with the large flathead. Even with a tool that wasn't easy, can't imagine how she does it without one. Didn't get action pictures in the store because I've already drawn enough attention from her colleagues.  :D

Same here!  I would frequently use the Rebar and either forget to take a pic or procrastinate thinking I would take a pic "next time".

Day 30

30 days with my modded Rebar was a very pleasant experience. It performed well on various tasks. The only problem I experienced is completely related to my modification. I overfilled one handle with toys a wee bit, causing the locking tab to dislodge from the handle while exerting downward force on the saw. I will need to work on that. Otherwise, its performance this month was great.

I have one small criticism. The knife blades seem a bit thin to me. There should be no problems if used properly, but I feel like them are lacking a bit when compared to the Super Tool blades. It was just enough to cause me to use the PE blade much less than during the Super Tool challenge.
