Great results GearedForwards Does it wear offf easily? Is it durable enough for EDC? What do you think?
(Image removed from quote.)
I think using it as a toothpick highlight would work just fine for EDC (I only painted the exposed surface so no wear from putting the toothpick in and out of the scale), if you were to use a slip with rough side leather inside, and the toothpick head was at the bottom of the tool instead of the top, then it might eventually wear away. That said, touching it up would take all of two minutes If you wanted a more durable finish, perhaps for a larger area or more exposed area, you could use a thin layer of clear nail polish like a clear coat to protect it. That said, I've covered some larger areas with it and made a tiny glow stick basically, and testing those areas with my nail I think it would take a while, or very rough carry with metal objects, to actually damage the coating and much, much longer to meaningfully compromise the glow.
GITD is fun!I did mine with epoxy and powder on these tweezers. Milled the plastic down and used the epoxy to build it back up flush.
Nice! I've been thinking about stripping the paint off a Silvertech Huntsman and replacing it with Glow In the Dark Paint inside. I think in the new series of Classics, there is crystal clear Classic SD (basically a Silvertech without the paint), so that may be my test mule.
Thanks for sharing it here Kamakiri
Wow - that’s really effective!
Awesome work, Kamakiri! After put under bright light, how well does this glow? Will it last all night to dark acclimated eyes?
