I saw over on Facebook that the Leatherman website has quietly increased their prices by around $10 recently  I also read that other sites have done the same since after Christmas,  LM actually being one of the later ones

Inflation sucks >:(

That's because everyone has more and more money in their pockets these days. Right?

I am flummoxed by the $10 increase across the board for all of the full size plier-based MTs  ???

By going up $10, the Rev's price went up 25% whereas the Charge+'s price went up 7%. If I was going to buy a Charge+, a $10 increase would not deter me much. But there is no way I am going to pay $50 for a new Rev, or $70 for a Wingman or Sidekick. Leatherman or not, the value is not there.

Seems like they will price themselves out of business for the common person, there will be some that will buy them no matter what though :dunno:

The only answer is for you to stop buying different colour Charges so they finally feel the crunch in their wallet

 :iagree:

On my end, the price's the same for the Heritage Wave, Wingman, Raptor, Free series, Knifeless Rebar with leather sheath (the one with nylon sheath is up $10USD) Coyote Rebar, Raptor Response, Bond, Curl, and Super Tool 300 EOD. All the rest is UP the $10USD; couldn't bear to look at the accessories or sheaths.

If the Crunch were to be restocked, will it be feasable, or it suffer the same fate of the upcharge and become another nail in its coffin?

Sad news for me, as it was better for me to buy new from them than the evilbay, and many who sold Leathermans through Amazon no longer do.

Did looked at accessories and they're the same (at least for now)

I'd guess that now we can have free shipping on ALL orders, as the promo states "free shipping on orders over $75"

I mostly buy used tools but occasionally buy new :D

I bought the Red one from somebody (still in the box) and the Orange from Cabelas. I usually only buy things on clearance from LM directly  :dunno:

So they wouldn't notice if I never bought anything from them :pok: :D

So on the bright side, I guess I saved some money buying a bunch of Leatherman in 2021 rather than 2022

I was planning on buying a bunch of BO Leathermans this year, so the news of the price hike initially made me decide to change my mind.  Now I'm thinking that I need to buy all of them so I save money over the next price hike  :woohoo:

I am patient and buy second hand or the most part

I never make a list and just search for whatever I want (usually several different models) and am happy to add whatever I can get ar a good price  :tu:

Sometimes you have to buy new because they never are in Ebay but for the most part I either have NOS or used :salute:

SMKW still has their exclusive green and blue models at $60, and Knifecenter with their exclusive Red is still $60, although the silver Alox is $70 already. Exclusive Colors FTW!

The scary part here is that a USD20 increase means an exponential increase in retail prices down here.  As it is, the “authorized reseller” is selling the Surge for something like USD200.  I can imagine it going for USD220.  Yes, a Surge costs as much as those colored Charge ones down here.

For SAK’s, heck, they’ve been increasing the prices ever since.

Anyway, I guess that’s why I’m sticking with my ST300-Rebar-Crunch-Compact lineup.

I've had a Free P4 in my Amazon shopping cart for a week going back and forth with myself whether to buy it or not because I thought it was over priced. Was about to just buy it yesterday then saw the price went up. Leatherman made my decision for me....

My guess is that the Leatherman's price increase is due to higher steel prices.

My guess is that the Leatherman's price increase is due to higher steel prices.

I think this could be part of the picture, but the increase is too large to be warranted on steel increases alone. After all, the cost of steel in the big picture of the price of tool is tiny compared to the rest (labour, logistics, R&D, company overheads, warranty tax), but this increase is a substantial percentage increase of the previous prices.

I think one thing they could be doing here is making a jump that will stick around, instead of the jump they may actually need to make (like $1-$2) they're making a larger jump that will:

1) net them more money in the short-medium term

2) means they won't have to increase their prices again for a long time

Given that they're already very expensive (and I'd go as far to say overpriced, at the very least in non-US countries) I'd be interested to know just how much their profit margins have shrank.

Y'kin say that again...
A couple of years ago I was considering a Surge, but at £90-odd they were pretty darn expensive back then. Pre-Brexit they rose rapidly to around £125... now they're over £150 and presumably about to go even higher!!

I love my Style PS, but whilst I'd probably replace it in a heartbeat, it'd be hard to hit that buy button.

The Bond is nicely priced IMO, but a $10 rise, especially once it inevitably turns into a £12 rise, will definitely push it into 'eh' territory at best.

I assumed that Brexit would have lowered the price for US imports to the UK (better trade agreement was promised), possibly also imports from non EU countries, including Switzerland.
