What are the odds of any particular SAK tool breaking on a given day and leaving you tool-less for that particular job?
Based on my experience, slim to none. I have managed to break SAK tools...but that's when I was young and lacking in wisdom, and I misused and abused them.

Bring up another interesting query: what about carrying two full sized SAKS to complement their different/respective toolsets? What combinations would that be and why?
I'm not sure I'd go that route. Were I to carry two full-size SAKs, I'd have to figure out which pocket the second one would go in. More than likely, I'd just carry my SwissChamp.

Always. A combination of an Executive, Esquire or 58mm with either a Huntsman, Evo 18 or other medium SAK.

Interesting looking inset - what’s the significance of it, Kamakiri? A company logo? :dunno:

Bring up another interesting query: what about carrying two full sized SAKS to complement their different/respective toolsets? What combinations would that be and why?

I’ve done it before, both when camping and when I worked in manufacturing.

I tried to pick complementary tool sets, but also important was having a “clean” knife and a “dirty” knife.

Some of my favorite combos:
Climber and Swiss Army 7 (camping)
Mountaineer and Centurion (work)

In both scenarios, I’d pocket-carry my “clean” knife (the first one) and carry my “dirty” knife in a belt sheath.

I hadn't considered "clean" and "dirty." My SAKs, for the most part, stay pretty clean.

I have done that for years.  There's the dirty knife (usually a single blade knife, not a SAK) that gets abused on opening mail and packaging, and cutting most things that can be cut with a knife.  Then there's the clean knife (my SAK) that I reserve for cutting food or minor surgery such as removing a splinter.  The dirty knife probably has tape glue and dirt on it and probably needs to be sharpened, while the clean knife is sparkling clean and always razor sharp.

Just in case you were being serious…
Batman

Agree with the others…
“Clean and dirty” are also good reasons for the two (large) knife carry.

What I enjoy about the 58mm is I can scissors when my larger SAK doesn't have them.  I like the 84mm SAKs and scissors on those are hard to come by.   My 58mm offers scissors so I can carry my favorite size SAK not concerned about being scissorless.

Lately, I’m always carrying a Alox Classic on my keys and a Alox Bantam in my wallet.

This is the advanced strategy here  :hatsoff:

I don't usually carry two on me, but I will often have a second one either in a backpack or vehicle. Usually it's one in my pocket that I intend to use, and one in the bag/vehicle that's bigger but less likely to be needed.

For example:
- Woodsman and SwissTool Spirit X
- Farmer X and SwissChamp

Other times I have a small 58mm or 74mm to pair with a larger model to get the nail file and scissors.

It's so easy to keep a Classic SD Alox or Bantam Alox in a wallet or jacket pocket so it's always there.

The perfect single SAK for me would I suppose have a nail file and a scissor and be thin and not too heavy,  The nail clip 580 has the tools but is kind of thick.  Still, if I go to an open mic or jam session I will probably take the nail clip.  I was thinking the Compact might work but it doesn't have a nail file.  Am I missing a thin model with a scissors and nail file?  So it seems like if I want these tools I can carry a Cadet and an Ambassador (I happened to get an Ambassador the other day) or some sort of combination like that, for ex sportsman and classic sd.  I've been trying this out recently, one in each side pocket on suspension clips, and it works well for me.

Most of them do. It'll be on the multi-purpose hook.

I’m carrying two full sized SAKS every day usually an Explorer or Outdoorsman and then a companion Alox model- a Harvester or Farmer X if I’m carrying the Explorer and a Pioneer if I’m carrying the Outdoorsman. This way the Cellidor stays clean and the Alox is for the down and dirty rough and tough jobs as it’s more robust, easier to clean and can be sanitized with alcohol. This companion carry has been working wonderfully for me lately.

I use to carry Bantam alox and Classic alox, both inside of my wallet, where there is a perfect sized pocket.

DLT Trading is out of stock of blue Pioneer Xs, but Swiss Knife Shop still has blue Pioneers in stock. I missed out on a second blue Alox Bantam.  :ahhh

yep. I always carry more than one, and more than a SAK. No one blade profile is "ideal" for every[/b][/u] task, after all.
My March and probably longer carry. The SK Blades "Smoke Jumper" Buck 110LT SFO and the Leatherman are on my belt. The mini fixed blade is in a sheath hung from my neck. Everything else is in R.F.P.

Yes. That ugly old thing in my avatar is I.
