Excellent mod.  I always wanted to get a Blast (still do if/when I can afford it) but this Fuse mod is great.  I'm tempted to get a Fuse now (especially since its cheaper than the Blast).  Does anyone have side-by-side comparison pics of the Blast and Fuse - especially pics of the blades?  Is the blast blade larger than the Fuse blade?

Thanks! Something you can't see, since the tip of file is same size as large flat head, I ground it to 45° to use as chisel/scraper.

It's from SOG. In fact I think any of the components sold by sog can be made to fit.

From what I can tell blast is just thicker, and add file/saw.

It's a very easy mod, takes 40 minutes tops. All that's needed is some griding with dremel and it works like came from factory that way.

Cool mod jzmtl :o :tu: I really like it :D

I have a Blast and it is great but the Fuse being smaller I would be tempted to swap out the blade for a saw and just carry a SAK  :think: :D

By the way PyroJames I believe that the knife blades are the same on both :tu:

Here're what's exactly needed:

1. Break open the chicago screws, I used spirit + powerlock. Note the imprerial measurement side is the bolt, and metric measurement side is the barrel, so hold barrel and turn the bolt.

2. Swap scissor with keyring/spacer, you need to grind away some of the thumb pad on scissor to clear the small flathead.

3. Take SOG file, there are four places you'll need to grind. A: the ramp leading up to lock notch is too tall, remove some of that. B: widen the lock notch by grind away some of the material that's on the side that's towards front. C: grind away some of the spine immediate next to lock notch, it's too tall to close tool fully. D: Grind away some material opposite to lock notch where lock bar rests when tool is folded. Line it up with can opener to see how much need to be removed.

4. Place file where scissor originally was, and keyring between it and phillips driver, discard spacer. Unfortunately due to lack of one leatherman's anti-clumping washer, the keyring always comes out together with file.

-Saw
-File
-Mini reversible driver

Looks great!
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.

Its nice to see this and the other LM mods going on.  I have the need to do a little LM modding and its reassuring to see its not all going to go pear shaped :D

Good work mate.  It makes up the tool list as it should have been from Leatherman.

It is especially encouraging to hear that with some minor grinding, SOG components will work in Leatherman tools. :)   

It makes me wish for the thousandth time that individual Leatherman components were available. :-\

There is no room left after the mod. Fuse has two long tool slot while Blast has four.

Really like your Mod,the only thing that I did to my Kick,was to mod one of the mid sized screwdrivers to an awl. :salute:

Never did like the awl on the Core or Surge (too wide),if I EDC'd the Core as much as the Fuse,I would mod one of the screwdrivers on it also,and or make a chisel pry bar out of the big one also. :salute:

This is a really neat mod! :tu:
It gives me hope that I could get a Fuse as a EDC for work, and get to mod a file in... something Leatherman should have put in... wonder why they forgot... :think:  :ahhh
