Recently decided to go ahead and buy a fake Gerber off ebay to see how bad it was. I ended up using parts from an old 800 Legend for some of the inside tools, (Philips driver and saw adapter.) The I decided to see if I could turn the C4 punch into a civilian tool. I cut about an 1 1/2 off a 4mm screwdriver and cut and ground the C4 spike until the cut, open ended screwdriver shank was wedged over the ground down C4 spike leaving it stationary and with no wobble at all. The C4 spike has about a 1/2 tall wedge shaped bit that fits inside the screwdriver shank and is much smaller than the original C4 spikes diameter. I covered it over with electrical tape for aesthetics. Fixed my daughters glasses with it Sunday in the middle of church. Nice to see it being used already.
Obviously fakes using the wrong name on their tools is dishonest. I found this tool useful as a modding test run instead of ruining my nice Gerber tools.
