Combo Carry

Who carries more than one sak at a time? I've been working on my "perfect" carry. I started with a Classic SD. Then added a Bantam Alox. I picked up a Mini Champ, and left the Classic SD behind. So then it was Mini Champ and Bantam Alox. The Bantam Alox was left behind when I added a Spirit X (not a sak, but close enough). So, then it was the Spirit X and Mini Champ. I picked up a Compact and left the Spirit X behind. Up until today, it was the Compact and Mini Champ. Now, starting tomorrow, I'm going to try the Jetsetter with the Compact. Not too much, and not too little. In theory, this will be perfect. In practice, well who knows?
As a side note, I also carry a traditional slipjoint. Currently, my traditional of choice is a GEC / Northfield 22 pattern. The slippie can change any given day. Depends on what happens to be my favorite for the day.

I went through multiple iterations and it settled to combo consisting of a single layer 84 (Waiter/Bantam) and any 58 with scissors, one of them with T&T.

Half of the world is held together with mini phillips screws, so the Manager - with its mini phillips driver - rides along with my Explorer Plus.

Nice Compact. I only carry one multi or knife at a time. I think most of the members carry more than one. Might make an interesting poll to see how many do what. Best wishes. G

You are not alone!
For me, my constant is a Manager (vagabond), a 58 with unique tools like your mini champ.
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
Have carried this since 1995.
(Actually this is my 2nd one, 1st was lost after 15 loyal years)
A SPARTAN is my current 2nd fiddle. A 91 mm but then about any 91 or 84 will fill the role, with a 4 layer being max.
On my counter within reach this morning,

Then I also have a Crossbody bag which is along for ventures in the world. It is packed with tools too.
Including a Spirit MXBS (BO) & a LM Signal & a SAK Compact.
I think I may have mild version of OcD. I have been in the field service repair game since 1973, so having the right tool within reach is necessary.
Now don’t get me started on slip joints. I could take a hour or more to just select the one to carry …
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!
Hope yours is as good!

For a bit over 12 years now, my carry is a 93mm pioneer in the pocket and an alox classic on the keys.

My regular EDC is my classic in a keyring sheath. It gets teamed up with a cadet sometimes, but more and more this past year, its been my old Wenger SI in a nylon and velcro belt sheath. The classic and Wenger SI do all I really need 98% of the time, and that's good enough for me.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

I almost always have 2 SAKs or a SAK with a PBMT like the Spirit.
The two combos I most frequently carry are an Explorer with Minichamp or Spirit with Rally.
The Explorer and MC don’t get as much pocket time anymore but still very useful.

The Spirit and Rally get a lot of use. It’s my true everyday carry.

A lot of really good combo carry choices! I was going to try a rambler and compact combo. I didn't have a rambler, so I ordered one from Amazon. Sold as new. Arrived as VERY used. Even missing the T&T's. Quickly returned for refund. Maybe that is a sign I dont need a Rambler. So, thats when I decided to go Jetsetter and Compact.
I might have to get a Swiss Champ to match my Mini Champ. I dont really need it, and I probably wont carry it. But I like things that are matching pairs. So, who knows?!?

I’ve been running a Rambler and a Waiter often lately. It’s a great lightweight combo, with a lot of capability and minimal overlap. I do like to add an OHO knife as well though.

Lately I've been pairing a Classic and an Alox Bantam for the Greenie Meanie challenge. That combo can handle at least 90% of my multitool needs. They are currently joined by an Opinel No. 6 (awlso green) and a SOG PowerLock.

Basically always!
I always have a Rambler. And I always carry a rotating selection of 91/84mm SAKs depending on what I'm doing that day. Favorites include all the 2 and 3 layer SAKs, the Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, and Explorer.

The only 2 SAKs I can carry solo are my Alumnus and Companion. Most of the time I have my Executive (actually an early 70s Companion) with one of the following: Pioneer, m61 Soldier, Sportsman, 84mm Golfer, Cadet X, or Alox Bantam. The Pioneer/Soldier are much more likely to be in my pocket than the others; I love that inline awl.

So, I tried. I really did. But it didn't work out. I'm back to the Compact and Minichamp. It just feels right.
